This patient, 33 years old, residing in Dien Tho commune, Dien Ban town, was brought by his family to the Emergency Department - Quang Nam Regional General Hospital on the afternoon of the first day of Tet in a state of many bleeding wounds all over his body: skin peeling wounds on the right side of his face, chest, left thigh, left abdomen with thermal burn wounds, 2 holes with foreign objects, especially the patient's 2 hands were very seriously injured, the right hand could be considered to have exploded, and the left hand had a vertical line in the middle of the hand, the force of the explosion caused the radius to break.
In addition, the patient's metacarpal bones were mixed up; tendons, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels were almost completely detached from the carpal tunnel and palm.
Immediately, the patient was consulted by the hospital and transferred to emergency surgery. After 6 hours of surgery and 2 units of blood transfusion, the patient's injuries were treated to a stable level. The patient is currently stable and continues to be monitored and actively treated at the Department of Orthopedic Trauma Surgery.
According to doctors, this is one of the accidents caused by illegal homemade fireworks used during Tet, which ultimately left serious consequences and could affect lives. Therefore, doctors also recommend that people strictly comply with the provisions of the law on the management and use of fireworks, and not arbitrarily make fireworks.
