In the first months of the year, enterprises in Ha Tinh maintained stable production and business, ensuring the import and export of goods. According to the report of the Department of Industry and Trade, in the first two months of the year, the total import and export turnover reached nearly 955 million USD, an increase of 5% over the same period last year.
Of which, export turnover reached 422.3 million USD, down 1.4% over the same period last year. According to the assessment, export activities of many product lines in the early stages of the year encountered difficulties when demand for goods was not high. In particular, the garment sector has shown signs of improvement in the market compared to 2023. This is also the only product line with an increase in export turnover with an increase of nearly 43% over the same period in 2023.
Other export products decreased compared to the same period: textile fibers decreased by nearly 39%, steel and steel billets decreased by 11.5%, wood chips decreased by 3%, and seafood decreased by 57%.
Import turnover in the first two months of the year is estimated at 532.6 million USD, up more than 11% over the same period last year. Of which, the main import is raw materials from Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation (accounting for nearly 68%).
Garment export turnover in the first two months of 2024 increased by nearly 43%.
In 2024, the world context is forecast to continue to have major and unpredictable changes with many intertwined opportunities and challenges. Enterprises believe that import and export activities will still face many difficulties and risks.
To achieve the export turnover target of 2.4 billion USD in 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade will have to continue to implement many solutions to promote and support businesses, especially the participation and efforts of the import-export business community.
