Inspecting state management of food safety in Thai Thuy district

On the morning of May 15, the Provincial Food Safety Steering Committee led by Ms. Tran Thi Bich Hang, Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee, inspected the state management of food safety in Thai Thuy district.

Comrade Tran Thi Bich Hang, Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Interdisciplinary Food Safety Steering Committee spoke at the inspection session.

Thai Thuy district has nearly 1,600 food production and trading establishments. Of which, there are 219 food production and processing establishments; 674 food trading establishments; 659 food service establishments and 44 street food establishments. During this year's Food Safety Action Month, the District's Food Safety Interdisciplinary Steering Committee has stepped up propaganda work to raise people's awareness of food safety; at the same time, established inspection teams to inspect compliance with legal regulations on food trading activities. At the end of April 2023, the Thai Thuy District Food Safety Interdisciplinary Steering Committee conducted 22 inspections; discovered 3 establishments violating food safety. The inspection team reported and proposed handling administrative violations according to the law.

After inspecting the collective kitchen of Ohsung Vina Thai Binh Company Limited (Lien Ha Thai Industrial Park) and listening to Thai Thuy district report on the results of state management activities on food safety, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Food Safety Steering Committee commended the results that Thai Thuy district has achieved in the past time.

He suggested that the district continue to strengthen and diversify communication work on food safety for many subjects. Especially, promote propaganda in business areas, schools, places with collective kitchens to raise people's awareness of food safety. Have forms of commendation and reward for units that do well; have measures to deter and handle units and establishments that violate food safety regulations. Along with that, strengthen inspection and examination work, further promote the role of the commune-level steering committee on food safety management.

He noted that Thai Thuy district needs to determine that strengthening state management of food safety is not something that only happens during peak months but is a regular and continuous task to effectively manage food safety work in the area.
