With many policies to stimulate domestic consumption of goods implemented since the beginning of the year, the purchasing power of goods produced in the province is increasing. This is expected to be a strong "lever" to actively support people and businesses to promote production and business and make an important contribution to the local socio-economic growth.

In order to have an orientation on the roadmap for developing domestic trade in a modern direction, the Provincial People's Committee has issued a plan to implement the strategy for developing domestic trade in the province for the period of 2030, with a vision to 2045. In particular, in the period of 2022-2025, the added value of the trade sector in the province will strive to achieve an average growth rate of about 9-9.5%/year and contribute about 10-12%/year in the period of 2026-2030; by 2030, contribute about 15% to the province's economy. The total value of goods and consumer service revenue in the period of 2022-2025 will achieve an average growth rate of 17-18%/year; in the period of 2026-2030, the average growth rate will be from 15-16%/year...

Currently, commercial activities in Quang Ninh have many advantages for development. In particular, promoting domestic consumption is being actively implemented by departments, branches, localities, and enterprises with many stimulus and promotion policies, such as: Voucher distribution programs; product discounts; price stabilization sales programs; applying credit programs, consumer loans with low interest rates, incentives... In the province, there are 133 markets, 26 supermarkets, 7 shopping centers; 342 convenience stores; 25 centers, points of sale and introduction of OCOP products; 24,000 stores, and food retail businesses. Supermarkets, shopping centers, and convenience stores have diverse and abundant goods, ensuring commercial civilization.

Ms. Pham Lu, Director of GO! Ha Long Supermarket, said: Currently, the supermarket is selling over 98% of domestic products. The supermarket always has ready goods in stock and has plans to reserve goods under all conditions to provide enough goods for people. Along with that, the supermarket also has many policies to stimulate shopping such as: Maximum discounts; promotions on vegetables, confectionery, food products; order discounts... We are committed to selling quality products, ensuring food safety and saying no to selling products of unknown origin.

Along with that, currently, Quang Ninh OCOP products are also having great purchasing power and are favored by consumers through e-commerce platforms, fairs, Trade Promotion Weeks... Up to now, 393 OCOP products with 3 to 5 star standards have been posted on e-commerce platforms: Shopee, Tiki, Lazada, YouTube, TikTok for promotion, product introduction and sales. There are 82 OCOP products that are connected to stable consumption in modern consumption channels at GO! Ha Long supermarket, MM Mega Market, Winmart, Aloha..., clean agricultural convenience store chains and shopping points for OCOP products, typical products of the province serving tourists; 123 OCOP products of the province have been consumed in a number of markets in major provinces and cities across the country such as: Hanoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Nam Dinh, Hung Yen, Hai Duong...

From the beginning of 2024 to now, Quang Ninh has also organized 1 national trade promotion program; 2 provincial trade promotion programs; 2 Vietnamese Goods Weeks; participated in 2 trade promotion programs in Hanoi and Da Nang; 2 conferences to connect and support the consumption of agricultural products and OCOP products; organized 7 trade promotion programs in the province... to stimulate consumption of "Made in Quang Ninh" products.

According to statistics from the Department of Industry and Trade, in the first 9 months of 2024, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue are estimated to increase by 12.97% over the same period in 2023. Commercial activities in the province have become vibrant again, with markets, supermarkets, and stores opening normally after the impact of storm No. 3.

However, to meet the development requirements of the market in the new period, Quang Ninh still has many issues to solve. Typically: E-commerce development activities to promote OCOP products have developed but are not really commensurate with the potential and tastes; many people have not changed their traditional shopping habits; smuggling and transport of goods are still complicated; the competitiveness of retail businesses is still not high...

In the coming time, to continue developing the domestic market, stimulating consumption of domestic products, the Department of Industry and Trade will promote coordination with departments, branches and localities to improve the investment and business environment and manage product markets; develop distribution enterprises, link goods circulation with production, promote linkages of product and goods supply chains; develop trade infrastructure systems; develop e-commerce, types of trade based on digital platforms; develop and improve the quality of human resources. At the same time, promote information, propaganda, and provide information to forecast market share trends to support businesses to promptly respond to adverse market fluctuations; promote the application of science and technology to develop trade in the province.
