“We need to be more determined in achieving the double-digit growth target and digital transformation, not only in words but also in actions, with cadres and party members playing the leading role. This is a historic mission that cannot be delayed, to help the country rise up,” emphasized Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai at a working session with the Standing Committee of the Ca Mau City Party Committee on the afternoon of April 14.
Attending the meeting were Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Duc Hien; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Thanh Ngai.
Achieved and exceeded 11/12 targets of the term resolution
Ca Mau City is one of the four dynamic urban areas of the Mekong Delta key economic region, recognized by the Prime Minister as a type II urban area on September 2, 2010; completing new rural construction in 2020.
The City Party Committee has 64 subordinate grassroots party organizations, including: 30 grassroots party committees (with 291 subordinate party cells) and 34 grassroots party cells, with a total of 9,035 party members.
Preparations for the party congress are on schedule, 291/291 party cells have held congresses for the 2025-2027 term. The city selected the Tac Van commune Party Committee and the Finance - Planning Department Party Cell to hold model congresses, and the units have completed the draft political report for the 2025-2030 term.
Implementing Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, continue to innovate and reorganize the political system to be streamlined and operate effectively and efficiently; after merging and reorganizing, the City Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department has 8 civil servants; for the government sector, 3 agencies and 10 civil servants will be reduced.
Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and determination of Ca Mau City in leading, directing and implementing all aspects of work, achieving important results, so far achieving and exceeding 11/12 targets of the Resolution for the 2020 - 2025 term; especially the city has completed the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, a total of 137 houses.
2025: Economic growth rate increases by 10% or more
Implementing the Supplementary Project on Socio-Economic Development in 2025 with a growth target of 8% or more, Ca Mau City proposed a growth scenario in 2025 with an economic growth rate of 10% or more (in 2024, the growth rate reached 9.63%).
Acknowledging the key tasks to promote growth, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Duc Hien suggested that Ca Mau City needs to have a detailed program and plan for growth tasks, including reviewing urban projects, avoiding resource dispersion; implementing a reasonable urban economy associated with landscape and infrastructure improvement; creating conditions for the development of small and medium enterprises; and suggesting the need for scientific projects associated with the city's strengths.
Paying special attention to the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai said that this is an important task to promote growth, contributing to the province's goal of achieving a growth rate of 8% or more. Accordingly, the Provincial Party Secretary noted that, in addition to common approaches, Ca Mau City needs to pioneer in building a unique model to develop a digital society, digital economy, and digital citizens, in which the role of cadres and party members is promoted. Ca Mau City must take the lead to inspire other localities.
Regarding the proposal of Ca Mau City on the project to renovate and build the drainage and wastewater treatment system of Ca Mau City, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Thanh Ngai said that the province has decided to stop the project because it is not feasible. In the immediate future, Ca Mau City will direct the dredging of sewers and drainage channels, and have solutions to limit urban flooding in Ca Mau City when the rainy season comes. Speed up the implementation and disbursement of public investment capital, compensation and site clearance, especially compensation and site clearance for the Ca Mau airport project. Avoid loss and waste in the implementation of public and private investment projects and works.
Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai affirmed that the current workload is very large, requiring high quality and progress in the context of implementing the policy of merging some provincial-level units, not organizing at the district level, merging some commune-level units; implementing the 2-level locality model; developing a project to arrange and streamline the agencies of the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, and mass organizations assigned by the Party and State.
Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai requested the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee to continue to thoroughly grasp the cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees, union members, association members and people to absolutely trust and comply with the Party's policies; work with peace of mind, ensure regular and continuous activities, and not affect the activities of the Party, State, people and businesses. Propaganda and mobilize cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees and workers affected by the process of restructuring and streamlining the apparatus to raise their sense of responsibility, be pioneers, set good examples, strictly comply with the organization's assignments and be ready to sacrifice personal interests for the common development of the homeland and country.
