On the morning of June 18, the Ministry of Transport coordinated with Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces to hold the groundbreaking ceremony for the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway phase 1.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and delegates pressed the button to start the project.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held at Km34 + 200, in My Xuan Ward, Phu My Town (Ba Ria Vung Tau). Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha attended.
At the same time, Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee also held a groundbreaking ceremony at km7 + 250, in An Phuoc commune (Long Thanh district).

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province Nguyen Van Tho said that this is a project that demonstrates the determination of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, which has applied special mechanisms to shorten the investment preparation time. Only from July 2022 to now, a large amount of work has been completed to be able to start construction today.
The Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway project has a total length of 53.7km, passing through Dong Nai and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces. Of which, the section passing through Dong Nai province is over 34km long, and the section passing through Ba Ria - Vung Tau is 19.7km.
The location of Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway will be built after the groundbreaking ceremony.
The initial scale of the road is 4 lanes, 24.75m wide. The completed phase will have 6 lanes, 32.25m wide, design speed 100km/h. The project is expected to be completed in 2025 and put into operation in 2026. The total investment is nearly 18,000 billion VND from public investment capital.
The project is divided into 3 components. Specifically, component 1 invested by Dong Nai is 16km long, with a total investment of 6,012 billion VND; component 2 invested by the Ministry of Transport is 18.2km long, with a total investment of 6,852 billion VND and component 3 invested by Ba Ria-Vung Tau is 19.5km long, with a total investment of 4,693 billion VND.
National Highway 51 connecting Dong Nai with Ba Ria Vung Tau is currently overloaded.
When the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway comes into operation, it will promote connections with Long Thanh airport and Cai Mep - Thi Vai deep-water port, strengthening regional economic connectivity.
