ASEAN colors in Vietnamese Ao Dai
Besides the participation of departments, city leaders and Vietnam - ASEAN bilateral friendship associations, Vietnam - ASEAN enterprises, there was the presence of consuls general of ASEAN member countries in very elegant and colorful Ao Dai.
The event on the evening of March 22 was impressive when 5 Consuls General of Southeast Asian countries (Laos, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia) wore traditional Vietnamese Ao Dai to attend the Vietnam - ASEAN + Friendship Exchange Meeting in the Year of the Dragon 2024.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan, President of the Vietnam - Southeast Asia Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City: All the Ao Dai collections that the Consuls General of the countries wore today are the heart and soul of designer Anna Hanh Le - currently the Permanent Vice President of the Ao Dai Association of Ho Chi Minh City.
The "ASEAN Sunflower" Ao Dai collection is inspired by the natural beauty of Vietnam and uses the sunflower detail as the main motif. There are 5 special works that were directly measured and designed by the designer specifically for the Consuls General of Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand attending the program.
Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan also added that "Sunflowers" was integrated into the story of each country's cultural identity, demonstrating the unity in diversity of ASEAN culture, skillfully expressed on high-quality Vietnamese silk. The message that the Organizing Committee and the Designer wanted to convey through the ASEAN Ao Dai costume was the solidarity and friendship in ASEAN. By wearing Ao Dai in this event, the Consuls General showed their support for Ho Chi Minh City's Ao Dai month and the efforts of the young designer to stylize the tradition, deepening the similarities in ASEAN culture; thereby helping international politicians understand, love and appreciate the cultural values of the Vietnamese people.
