Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Thanh Oai District People's Committee Bui Van Sang said that for thousands of years, Vietnamese people have had the saying "When drinking water, remember its source" to remember their roots and ancestors, expressing the sacred feelings of the Vietnamese people: "The National Ancestor is still remembered for thousands of years/The homeland is never forgotten".
According to legend, after marrying Mother Au Co at Lang Suong cave, the two returned to Nghia Linh mountain. On the day of the flower's birth, Mother Au Co gave birth to a sac of one hundred eggs, which hatched into one hundred sons. When the children grew up, Father Lac Long Quan took 50 of his sons to the sea, Mother Au Co took the other 50 sons to the mountain; the eldest son stayed in Phong Chau, succeeded to the throne and took the reign name of Hung Vuong the first. Mother Au Co and her 49 sons when they arrived at Hien Luong land, Ha Hoa district, Phu Tho province, saw the beautiful mountains and rivers, fertile land, forests with many wild animals... so they chose this place as a resting place.
Chairman of Thanh Oai District People's Committee Bui Van Sang delivered the opening speech of the festival.
50 people went down to the sea with their father to Bao Da land, now Binh Da village (Binh Minh commune), not far from the sea. Seeing the sacred land, fertile soil, winding rivers and streams, many high mounds, shaped like dragons and tigers, they told their children to stop and set up camp to choose this place to build their career.
Here, the National Founder taught his children and people to grow rice, grow mulberry trees, raise silkworms, weave cloth, reclaim land, build houses, chase away wild animals, reclaim land, and expand the territory. Soon, the entire Bao Da region was considered a precious land and became prosperous. People from everywhere flocked to the sacred land to worship Long Quan, forming the first villages of the ancient Vietnamese people in the Red River Delta.
On a day at the end of February of the lunar calendar, the National Ancestor Lac Long Quan passed away at night. To show gratitude for the merits of the National Ancestor Lac Long Quan, the villagers of Bao Da buried the National Ancestor in Ba Go area. In the book: Co Loi Ngoc Pha Hung Vuong, kept at Hung Temple, it is written: The National Ancestor Lac Long Quan's tomb is located in Ba Dong (Ba Go) Dong Thuong, Bao Cuu, Hau Cai Bao Da - now Binh Da.
The people of Binh Da have built a communal house (temple) to worship with the large inscription "Vi Bach Viet To" (Ancestor of Bach Viet people). "With historical, cultural, religious values, the festival is associated with the unique value of Noi communal house relic. On April 1, 2014, Binh Da Festival was recognized by the State as the first national intangible cultural heritage of Hanoi city.
Central and Hanoi leaders performed the opening ceremony of the tourist route "Nam Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Road".
In particular, the unique relief (statue) kept in Noi communal house is embossed with the image of the National Ancestor Lac Long Quan and the Lac Hau and Lac Tuong, vividly recreating the daily life of the Hung King era, which was recognized as a National Treasure by the Prime Minister in 2015. This place also discovered a bronze drum dating back 2,500 years ago, and an elaborately crafted stone dragon bed, said to be the dragon bed of the National Ancestor and Mother Au Co," Mr. Bui Van Sang informed.
For generations, Thanh Oai people and their descendants have always sincerely offered incense to pay homage to the National Ancestor Lac Long Quan. In recent years, with the attention of the Party, the State, the city, and the sincere contributions of compatriots and tourists nationwide, the Noi Communal House Relic Site has continued to be restored, embellished, and expanded, worthy of being a national historical and cultural relic, and a dossier has been prepared to propose upgrading to a special national level.
According to Chairman of Thanh Oai District People's Committee Bui Van Sang, it has become a tradition that on the occasion of the festival, there is a delegation of representatives from the Hung Temple Relic Management Board (Phu Tho) to offer incense to the National Ancestor and ask to bring the incense sticks from the First Altar of Noi Communal House to worship with the meaning of respectfully welcoming the National Ancestor to attend the Hung Temple festival on the 10th day of the third lunar month.
