As the last month of the year of the Cat 2023 is gradually coming to an end, in less than three weeks, everyone and every family will join in the joyful and bustling atmosphere of the beginning of the new year.
During this time, the business of food, groceries, and essential items for Tet has begun to be bustling and vibrant with buyers and sellers. This year, the Tet gift basket market has seen the rise of agricultural products such as dried fruits, jams, and regional dried specialties. In particular, with the trend of gradually reducing Tet gifts from confectionery, the rise of agricultural products is gradually becoming a trend of choice as these products are increasingly cared for in both appearance and quality.
In Binh Thuan, this year, the market has witnessed the "invasion" of agricultural products as Tet gifts that are very popular with customers. These are typical processed agricultural products, certified by OCOP of districts and towns in the province such as dragon fruit wine, dragon fruit juice, jam, candy, and cakes made from dragon fruit. These are also products produced in a green, organic direction such as sand lizards, pigeons, cashew nuts, etc. Notably, these processed agricultural products are "transformed" by the subjects into very eye-catching, diverse Tet gift baskets, which are best-sellers in the market inside and outside the province.
According to Ms. Nguyen Hoang Thu Huong - Hoa Le Clean Dragon Fruit Cooperative (Ham Thuan Bac), the cooperative currently has 12 dragon fruit products certified with 3-star OCOP, all of which have been selected to be packaged into Tet gift baskets. In addition, thanks to the connection and support of state agencies, units and individuals in the province have chosen local agricultural products as gifts for customers and partners. With an average price ranging from 300,000 - 500,000 VND/gift basket, depending on the choice and ordering needs of the buyer, the cooperative will combine suitable and beautiful products.
In addition, the cooperative has connections with other cooperatives and businesses in the area to combine diverse Tet gift products to meet customers' needs. Ms. Huong added that this year the number of Tet gift baskets from agricultural products sold by the unit increased by 30 - 40% compared to last year. In addition to product quality, the cooperative has focused on designs, vivid and beautiful gift combinations, along with meaningful messages such as "Happy New Year", "All the best", "Spring colors" ... which further increase the attraction of the gifts. In addition, this year, some typical agricultural products of localities in the province such as rice, apples, grapes ... have also been posted, promoted, sold at stores, supermarkets by organizations and individuals and are widely known through social networking sites, creating a "fever" of agricultural products in the Tet market this year.
In addition to crop products, currently, green and sustainable livestock products in Phan Thiet City such as Thien Nghiep pigeons and sand lizards are also being introduced into the Tet gift market. Mr. Nguyen Minh Tam (owner of Ba Tuong Farm in Thien Nghiep commune), who successfully raises white pigeons (French pigeon breed) and wild chickens in Binh Thuan, said: “This year we have started to launch about 500 Tet gift bags, which are processed products including sun-dried pigeons - dried sand lizards - wild chickens and Bo Chinh ginseng wine, with an average price of 500,000 VND/bag. According to the farm owner, these are products raised in a green, clean and safe way, so many customers choose them as Tet gifts, distributed in most provinces and cities across the country.
It can be said that 2023 is a breakthrough year for Vietnamese agricultural products in the market, contributing to promoting agriculture 4.0. In particular, clean agricultural products are gradually becoming the top choice of consumers, aiming for safety for health. With agricultural products of Binh Thuan province, the initial signals in the new year in the Tet gift market this year have been and are igniting a favorable start, bringing Vietnamese agricultural products in general and Binh Thuan in particular to the domestic and foreign markets, affirming their brands in the market.
According to the provincial agricultural sector, in recent times, all levels and localities have had many solutions to support businesses and farmers in expanding consumption markets and connecting trade. To develop the agricultural market, the sector is constantly changing its mindset of concentrated production and increasing value, efficiency, and diversification along the value chain to suit market requirements.
