On September 13, authorized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Phu Tho Provincial Youth Union awarded the "Brave Youth" Badge to Ngo Van Khanh and a Certificate of Merit to Ngo Quoc Trung for his brave and timely actions in rescuing victims of the Phong Chau bridge collapse on September 9.

Previously, after Phong Chau bridge collapsed, Mr. Khanh discovered a victim struggling in the midst of the raging floodwaters. Mr. Khanh and Mr. Trung got into the family boat and ran to the location where the victim was in danger to rescue him.

Approaching the place where the victim was calling for help, Mr. Ngo Van Khanh swam directly into the water to save the person, while Mr. Ngo Quoc Trung stayed on the boat to support, rescue and pull the victim safely onto the boat.
