Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat airport started construction at the end of 2022 with a total investment of nearly 11,000 billion VND. The project is expected to be completed by April 30, meeting the capacity of more than 20 million passengers/year, serving 7,000 passengers/peak hour, and operating all types of aircraft code C, E.

At the same time, the project helps fundamentally solve the overload situation that has lasted for many years at the existing Tan Son Nhat airport.

Mr. Le Khac Hong - Head of Project Management Board said that up to now, the whole project has reached about 85% of the volume. Of which, the rough construction part of the project has been completed.

Contractors are rushing to complete the architecture, construction, interior and equipment installation; striving to complete the entire project to operate and put terminal T3 into operation on April 30, 2025 - 2 months ahead of schedule.

Tran Quoc Hoan – Cong Hoa connecting road: Construction will start at the end of 2022, with an investment of more than VND 4,800 billion. When completed, the project will create a new road axis to access Tan Son Nhat airport, breaking the monopoly of Truong Son road, reducing traffic congestion in an area that has been overloaded for many years.

According to the design, the connecting road is about 4.4 km long with a scale of 6 lanes. The starting point is at the intersection of Tran Quoc Hoan - Phan Thuc Duyen Street and the ending point is at the intersection of C12 - Cong Hoa - Truong Chinh Street.

On the route, the construction of a 17m wide (4 lanes) and 980m long overpass in front of T3 station has been basically completed.

Construct 2 underpasses at the intersection of Phan Thuc Duyen - Tran Quoc Hoan streets, 42m long, 9m wide (2 lanes), open to traffic at the end of August 2024 and the intersection of Truong Chinh - Tan Ky Tan Quy streets (not yet implemented).

To date, the project has opened phase 1, from the Phan Thuc Duyen - Tran Quoc Hoan underpass to the intersection of Hoang Hoa Tham Street. With the opening of this section, people can move seamlessly from the Phan Thuc Duyen - Tran Quoc Hoan underpass intersection to Hoang Hoa Tham Street, helping to reduce the load on the Lang Cha Ca roundabout and Cong Hoa Street.

According to the HCM City Traffic Construction Management Board (Traffic Board), the remaining major items of the connecting road will be completed this year to synchronize with Tan Son Nhat Airport's T3 terminal when it is put into operation.

The National Highway 50 expansion project, with a cost of nearly VND1,500 billion when completed, will contribute to completing the transportation network in the south of Ho Chi Minh City. Photo: Nguyen Hue.

National Highway 50: The project to build and expand National Highway 50 through Binh Chanh district is a key traffic project of Ho Chi Minh City.

This project has a construction investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND with the starting point intersecting with Nguyen Van Linh Street and the end point bordering Long An province.

The entire project has a total length of about 6.92 km, including a section parallel to the existing National Highway 50, about 4.3 km long, and a 2.56 km section of the existing National Highway 50, expanding the road surface from 4 to 6 lanes, extending to Ong Thin Bridge area (HCMC borders Long An).

After 2 years of construction, the project has just opened phase 1, the parallel section of National Highway 50 (from Trinh Quang Nghi to the existing National Highway 50 intersection) is about 2km long.

It is expected that in 2025, the Traffic Department and contractors will speed up the work of removing difficulties in site clearance to complete the remaining two sections, including the section from Trinh Quang Nghi to Nguyen Van Linh intersection, which is more than 2km long, and the nearly 2.8km expansion of the existing National Highway 50.

When completed, the National Highway 50 expansion project will enhance traffic connectivity and boost the economy between Ho Chi Minh City, Long An and the western provinces.

At the same time, this route also connects other important traffic axes such as Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, Ring Road 3 (under construction) and Nguyen Van Linh Boulevard, contributing to completing the traffic network in the South of Ho Chi Minh City.

An Phu Interchange:

An Phu intersection is one of the key projects to reduce the load for the East of Ho Chi Minh City, with a total investment of more than 3,400 billion VND.

The project started construction at the end of 2022 with a scale of 3 floors, including: a 2-way underpass connecting Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway with Mai Chi Tho Street (the side of the tunnel crossing the Saigon River), extending through the intersection of Dong Van Cong Street. Above, 2 overpasses are designed for vehicles to turn in all directions; on the ground, there is a central roundabout with a symbolic tower, which is considered a special highlight of the project.

According to the HCM City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor), many major items of the project such as Ba Dat Bridge and Giong Ong To 2 have been completed, and other main packages such as underpasses and bridges are also being focused on implementation.

The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, helping to reduce congestion at one of the biggest traffic hotspots in Ho Chi Minh City while also increasing transportation capacity to seaports and Long Thanh airport.

Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3: In 2025, it is expected to complete the construction of Nhon Trach Bridge and open the 14.7km elevated section through Thu Duc City.

The two projects, when completed, will create a key regional connecting route. Of which, Nhon Trach Bridge with a total investment of more than VND6,900 billion, implemented by the My Thuan Project Management Board (Ministry of Transport), is under construction ahead of schedule and is expected to be put into operation on April 30.

Connected directly to this bridge, the section of Ring Road 3 through Thu Duc City is designed to be 14.7km long.

Currently, the Investor (Traffic Department) together with construction contractors and supervision consultants are speeding up the completion of some items before April 30, 2025 to synchronize with the construction package of Nhon Trach bridge and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.

By the end of 2025, 14.7km of overpass of Ring Road 3 in Thu Duc City will be open to traffic.

According to Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong, the Ring Road 3 project is a very important project as it is a vital inter-regional connection route, shortening travel time between Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Long An.

The exploitation of the 14.7km section through Thu Duc City helps synchronize with the progress of the Long Thanh International Airport construction project, reduce traffic pressure in the eastern part of the city, and contribute to the national goal of having 3,000km of expressway nationwide by 2025.
