Within the framework of the Workshop "Developing products for the souvenir and tourist gift market with professionalism, uniqueness, and local identity of the ancient capital", on the afternoon of January 14, the Provincial Survey Team conducted a survey at a number of tourist areas and spots in the province.

The delegation included Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Khac Su, Vietnam Institute of Archaeology; leaders of the Department of Tourism, representatives of the Vietnam Craft Village Association, and researchers in the tourism sector.

The delegation visited Trang An Eco-tourism Area, Tam Coc-Bich Dong Tourist Area, and Tay Phuong Bodhi Gallery. At these tourist areas and spots, the delegation learned about the unique historical and cultural values of the ancient capital. At the same time, they visited and experienced some booths and gift and souvenir display areas at these tourist spots.

Delegates assessed that souvenirs and tourist gifts from Ninh Binh province are quite diverse, including: decorations, paintings, wooden handicrafts, scarves, embroidered pillowcases, ceramics, cuisine, etc. In general, the products have been invested in both quantity and quality, serving the diverse tastes of tourists.

Survey of souvenir products at some tourist attractions
The delegation surveyed the products of the Bodhi Leaf Gallery (Sinh Duoc Cooperative).

The promotion and introduction of products have received attention from businesses, cooperatives and manufacturers. Many products have conveyed cultural stories and characteristics of the ancient capital such as Bo Bat pottery, Van Lam embroidery and culinary products. Thereby spreading the beauty of Ninh Binh land and people to a large number of tourists while increasing revenue for the industry and creating stable jobs for the people.

However, delegates said that gift and souvenir products of Ninh Binh province still account for a small proportion compared to the total number of items displayed and introduced; the designs are still monotonous and not diverse. Souvenir products associated with the province's logo and culture are still few. There is a lack of booths and stalls to support gifts for tourists to experience products bearing the Ninh Binh brand.

The survey results are an important basis for researchers to comprehensively, practically and objectively evaluate the current souvenir and gift market of Ninh Binh. From there, propose solutions to develop professional, unique products with strong local identity of the ancient capital.
