With its natural wild beauty, diverse ecosystem combining forest and sea, Cat Ba National Park is the most attractive tourist destination for experiencing and exploring nature in Hai Phong today. In 2004, Cat Ba National Park was recognized by UNESCO as a world biosphere reserve.
Cat Ba National Park is located on the road across Cat Ba Island, Tran Chau Town, Cat Hai District, Hai Phong City, about 30km south of the city center. This is one of the largest special-use forests in Vietnam, a place to store the world's biosphere. Currently, Cat Ba National Park is preserving many marine ecosystems, terrestrial forests, mangrove forests, and rare species of flora and fauna.
Seen from above, Cat Ba Island looks like a giant green carpet containing many mysteries and attractions. Cat Ba is the third biosphere reserve in Vietnam, recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve with a total area of over 26,000 hectares.
The islands have a common height of 100 to 150m above sea level, the highest point is Cao Vong peak at 331m.
