International visitors 'explode' to Phu Quoc to celebrate Tet

Phu Quoc International Airport is sometimes overloaded.

On January 31, Phu Quoc International Airport announced that from the first to the seventh day of the first lunar month of At Ty, 2025 (January 29 to February 4), Phu Quoc is expected to receive an average of more than 100 flights each day bringing international and domestic visitors to the island for spring travel. This number does not include high-speed trains and ferries from the mainland taking visitors to the island.

Therefore, sometimes Phu Quoc International Airport is crowded with passengers, sometimes overloaded, passengers have to wait a long time to do exit and entry procedures.

"I was very impressed with Tet in Vietnam, especially in Phu Quoc. The island had beautiful fireworks. Everything was wonderful. This was the best New Year's Eve of my life," Mrs. Kira - Russian tourist - said.

In recent days, domestic and foreign tourists, especially tourists from China, Taiwan, Korea and some European countries, have flocked to entertainment spots such as Hoang Hon town (An Thoi ward); Grand World Phu Quoc area and Phu Quoc night market (Duong Dong ward)... to visit, take photos, watch art shows and enjoy specialties of Phu Quoc island.

Phu Quoc 4-island tour 'explodes' due to high tourist demand

Mr. Nguyen Minh Tam - director of Tam Dang Khoa Canoe Company in An Thoi ward - informed that starting from the 29th of Tet until now, the tour to visit 4 islands of Hon May Rut Trong, Hon May Rut Ngoai, Hon Gam Ghi... many international visitors choose to go to experience activities, games on the sea, parasailing and diving to see corals, feeding fish on the seabed.

"This year's Tet, we still keep the tour price stable. Every day we welcome about 30 international groups booking island tours, sometimes more bookings but we don't have enough capacity to meet the demand. Other entertainment spots are also crowded with guests at night. This Lunar New Year 2025, I see Phu Quoc tourism booming, with a bumper crop of international visitors," Mr. Tam said excitedly.

Kien Giang Department of Tourism said that from the 29th of Tet to the 2nd day of the Lunar New Year 2025, Kien Giang is expected to welcome more than 131,000 visitors.

Of which, Phu Quoc city is estimated to welcome about 93,400 arrivals; international visitors are about 27,694 arrivals, with total estimated revenue of more than 700 billion VND.

Mr. Bui Quoc Thai - Director of Kien Giang Department of Tourism - said that the department has sent an official dispatch to districts and cities to strengthen supervision of compliance with legal regulations on ensuring service quality, posting service prices, and food hygiene and safety.

In addition, tourist attractions must not allow the situation of soliciting, "ripping off" customers, or forcing prices to negatively affect the image of Phu Quoc tourism.
