Arsenal visited Nottingham Forest in round 22 of the Premier League. Coach Mikel Arteta's players won a hard-fought victory thanks to the brilliance of Gabriel Jesus.
Being underestimated, the home team proactively chose a defensive counter-attacking style of play. Coach Nuno Santo concentrated a large number of players in front of and in the penalty area, creating many layers of defense. Therefore, the "Gunners" central attacks were not effective.
The most dangerous chance of the first half belonged to Bukayo Saka. In the 43rd minute, Arsenal players coordinated quickly on the left wing, the ball came to Saka's feet. The English player finished with his weaker foot but the Nottingham defender managed to block it.
Gabriel Jesus is one of the best players on Arsenal's side.
In the second half, the game did not change much. Arsenal continued to press. But unlike the first half, there were more opportunities. In the 53rd minute, Bukayo Saka shot diagonally but could not beat goalkeeper Matt Turner.
Four minutes later, Saka continued to have the ball. He coordinated with Martin Odegaard before passing the ball down to Gabriel Magalhaes. The player wearing the number 6 shirt faced the Nottingham goal but shot against the post and went wide.
However, the wait of Arsenal fans was rewarded in the 65th minute. Gabriel Jesus received the ball from Oleksandr Zinchenko's throw-in. The striker dribbled the ball before finishing from a narrow angle to open the scoring.
In the 72nd minute, Gabriel Jesus again initiated a quick counter-attack. The Brazilian player passed the ball conveniently for Bukayo Saka to finish diagonally, doubling the gap for Arsenal.
Before the end of the match, the home team only managed to score 1 goal thanks to Taiwo Awoniyi. Arsenal won 2-1, thereby temporarily rising to second place in the rankings with 46 points. They played 1 more match than the leading team Liverpool (48 points), and 2 more matches than the second team Man City (43 points).
