"The Islamic Republic of Iran will respond decisively and strongly," CNN quoted the source as saying.
CNN 's source did not provide an exact timeline for the attack, but said it "likely will take place before the US presidential election" scheduled for November 5. In addition to CNN , many US media outlets also reported that Iran's response could be carried out in the next few days.

At least three senior Iranian figures have announced retaliation for Israel's latest attack, but have not disclosed the timing of the action.
Commander-in-Chief of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Hossein Salami said Iran would " respond with strong actions " after the Israeli attack. Meanwhile, IRGC Deputy Commander Ali Fadavi said retaliation was "inevitable".
“ For more than 40 years, we have never let an attack go unanswered,” said Ali Fadavi.
On the other hand, two Israeli sources revealed intelligence that determined Iran was planning an attack in the coming days, possibly before the US election.
However, Iranian sources told the New York Times that the attack was more likely to happen after the election, to limit former President Donald Trump's re-election chances.
The newspaper quoted three officials as saying that Mr Khamenei ordered preparations for a retaliatory strike after assessing that the damage caused by Israel was too great to ignore.
In the latest developments in the Middle East, Israel launched a series of attacks on Iranian targets on October 26. This was in response to Iran’s airstrike on Israel in early October, after Tel Aviv killed the Iranian military commander and the Hezbollah group it supports.
In the spiral of escalating violence, the two countries are engaging in direct combat.
