According to internal sources, LG Innotek - one of Apple's camera suppliers has started producing the camera module of the iPhone SE 4.
LG is known to stock up on components about 3 months before a new product is launched, so the iPhone SE 4 is likely to be launched in March 2025. The last time Apple announced the iPhone SE was March 18, 2022.
Apple typically releases a lower-cost model every few years to save on component costs, which helps keep the price of the iPhone SE low. While the new iPhone starts at $799, the SE typically sells for $499.
With a design inspired by the iPhone 14, the iPhone SE is expected to bring many significant improvements including an OLED screen (previous models were only equipped with traditional LCD screens).
Previously, according to a report from MacRumors as well as a share by the Unknownz21 account on social network X, the iPhone SE 4 will be a modified version of the iPhone 14 with an impressive 6.1-inch OLED screen, 2432 x 1170 pixel resolution and 460ppi pixel density.
This is the first time a device in the SE series is equipped with an OLED screen, showing that Apple is paying more attention to improving the user experience even for products in the low-cost segment.
In terms of design, the iPhone SE 4 will have a square frame, flat glass on both the front and back like the iPhone 14. Another notable point is that this phone will remove the traditional Home button and replace it with Face ID technology, making it more modern and keeping up with the general trend of the iPhone product line.
In addition, leaker Unknownz21 also said that the iPhone SE 4 will be equipped with a new Action button like the iPhone 16 to replace the vibration slider. The device uses a single camera, the sensor is upgraded from 12 to 48MP.
Some sources said that Apple sought to reduce costs by assigning BOE - Apple's cheapest screen supplier, to produce 70% of the iPhone SE 4 screens. In addition, the company also asked BOE to use older generation OLED technology with lower maximum brightness on the iPhone 13. Apple's goal is to buy OLED panels at $40 to maintain good profits when selling.
The iPhone SE 4 will have an Apple A16 Bionic chip and a Qualcomm Snapdragon X70 baseband and an Apple U1 UWB chip that will support Apple Intelligence features. This will be one of the product's major highlights, helping users access advanced AI technologies at an affordable price.
In addition, other changes in the iPhone SE 4 design will include a new USB-C charging port, premium aluminum frame and IP68 water and dust resistance, 20W fast wired charging and 12W MagSafe wireless charging, support for 5G connectivity, Wifi 6, Bluetooth 5.3.
