Mr. Bui Tuan Manh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cat Hai District, said that the welcome gate project with a total investment of nearly 23.4 billion VND from the district budget is being focused on by the contractor and is expected to be inaugurated, handed over and put into use on the occasion of the upcoming Hai Phong Liberation Day, May 13.
Perspective of the Welcome Gate selected by Cat Hai District and under construction
The location for the welcome gate was chosen by Cat Hai District on Provincial Road 356, passing through Phu Long Commune, about 400m from Cat Vieng ferry terminal.
According to the design, the welcome gate has a steel structure, 25m wide, 26m long and 18m high, built on a 650m2 land area.
Decision No. 1297 dated October 12, 2022 of the People's Committee of Cat Hai District on approving the project to build a welcome gate to Cat Ba Tourist Center, this is a project to create a tourism promotion image for visitors to Cat Ba archipelago... with a total investment of nearly 23.4 billion VND. Of which, the construction cost is more than 14 billion VND; equipment cost is more than 4.8 billion VND; consulting cost is nearly 2 billion VND.

Mr. Bui Cong Trong, Director of the Cat Hai District Construction Investment Project Management Board, said that before building the welcome gate, the district had asked for opinions and received approval from the National Heritage Council. In December 2021, the District People's Committee announced a competition to design the welcome gate. There were 7 participating units with 11 design options.
As a result, the design of CID Vietnam Joint Stock Company was selected.
Cat Ba is a tourist area that attracts a large number of domestic and international tourists to visit every year.
Cat Ba archipelago consists of 367 large and small islands belonging to Cat Hai district (Hai Phong city). Of which, Cat Ba island in the south of Ha Long bay, about 30 km from the city center, is the largest island and also the tourist center. This place has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve.
Currently, Cat Ba archipelago is a destination for many domestic and foreign tourists to visit and travel.
