The blood vessels are connected under a surgical microscope, helping to restore circulation to severely damaged areas. With the support of a team of experts from People's Hospital 115, doctors from the Burn - Microsurgery Department successfully performed the 11-hour surgery.
During the surgery, the surgeons faced many challenges, from finding the blood vessels in the neck hidden deep under the thick layer of scar tissue to removing a large skin flap from the anterior outer thigh. Finally, after many hours of hard work by the surgical team, the skin flap with three blood vessel pedicles was successfully connected to three recipient blood vessel pedicles in the neck.
The results of this surgery have brought about a great change for patient B. The skin flap is very good and soft, the patient can tilt his neck to the maximum, open his mouth to eat and drink and communicate more easily. The function of the neck and mouth area has been restored, bringing a better quality of life to the patient after a long time living with a thick layer of scar tissue on the neck area.
