Towards the Northern Golf Tourism Center

Golf tourism - a type of sport, resort and discovery - is growing strongly in Vietnam. With the advantage of beautiful landscapes, modern infrastructure and high-class services, Quang Ninh is emerging as a promising destination, aiming to become a high-class golf tourism center in the North.

Recently, the golf tourism picture in Quang Ninh has recorded many positive movements. In early 2025, Silk Path Golf Course - the first course in Dong Trieu City - officially came into operation, bringing the total number of golf courses in the province to 4. Although it has just opened, the course has attracted a large number of domestic and foreign tourists, especially high-end guests. According to the course management representative, the unit has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Professional Golf Association of America (PGA), aiming to train professional golfers and organize regional and international tournaments in the near future.

Quang Ninh currently has four golf courses: Silk Path, Tuan Chau, FLC Ha Long and Vinh Thuan – each with its own unique terrain and challenges. According to golfers, the courses are highly difficult, attracting players who are passionate about technique. Vinh Thuan course – adjacent to the border – stands out with a 2.5m deep hole that requires a ladder to hit the ball. Some other courses have holes in the middle of a lake or dozens of yards long, requiring high technique, creating a distinct attraction for professional golfers.

Grasping the trend of golf tourism, some businesses in the province have proactively exploited its potential. Notably, there have been businesses, although not many, that have paid attention to this type of tourism early on, quickly building specialized products. Hon Gai Tourism and Service Joint Stock Company - Quang Ninh branch is a pioneer since 2020, building golf package tours at preferential prices thanks to close cooperation with golf courses, hotels, restaurants and transportation units. According to Mr. Nguyen Ha Hai, Director of the company, the product is aimed at professional or family customers, combining golf and resort.

Following the above trend, many high-end resorts integrate golf elements such as FLC Ha Long - a place where golf courses, hotels, villas, 5-star yachts, spas... converge, providing a complete experience. At Vinh Thuan golf course, visitors can choose a combo tour from 3.6 million VND including 2 rounds of golf, 5-star resort and exploring local culture.

Quang Ninh tourism businesses are also actively expanding cooperation and connecting with foreign markets. Hon Gai Tourism is negotiating and signing cooperation agreements with Korean, Chinese, and Taiwanese partners to welcome guests on charter flights. A representative of FLC Northern said that the unit is cooperating with international businesses to bring Korean and Japanese guests to Quang Ninh via Van Don International Airport - a great advantage of the province.

According to the representative of Silk Path golf course, in addition to ensuring the quality of the course, operators such as Silk Path focus on developing a high-end service ecosystem such as luxury restaurants, international resorts, spas, entertainment... to bring a comprehensive experience to high-spending customers. This is considered a key factor in the strategy to enhance the brand of "Quang Ninh golf tourism".

According to the planning until 2030, with a vision to 2050, Quang Ninh aims to develop 22 golf courses in major tourist centers such as Ha Long, Uong Bi, Mong Cai... Thereby, aiming to form a system of international standard golf courses, creating momentum for the development of golf tourism, a type aimed at high-end customers, making Quang Ninh one of the golf tourism centers in the North.

To realize the goal of becoming a high-end golf tourism center and a destination for organizing international tournaments, Quang Ninh needs to continue to invest synchronously in technical infrastructure, upgrade course standards in a professional and environmentally friendly direction; at the same time, perfect the chain of supporting services, build close links between golf courses - travel - accommodation - transportation - destinations. Methodical promotion, clear brand positioning, and long-term strategy will be the decisive factors to bring "Quang Ninh golf tourism" far on the international map.
