Towards sustainable agricultural production

In recent years, with the attention and direction of all levels and sectors, and the efforts of local authorities, agricultural production in Phu Ninh district has made significant progress. In particular, drastic and timely solutions have contributed to the sustainable development of agricultural economy, bringing high economic value and efficiency.

Towards sustainable agricultural production

To restructure agricultural production, the district has implemented many programs such as: Supporting prices for plant and animal varieties; supporting varieties and techniques for commodity growing areas; training to improve farmers' knowledge, supporting vaccines and chemicals to disinfect and sterilize livestock environments; solidifying canals, developing rural and intra-field traffic; providing market information to farmers... At the same time, the district has developed a plan to organize production, attract enterprises to invest in production, develop cooperatives (HTX), cooperative groups (THT), develop farms, and gradually associate with tourism development, shifting the structure of industries and labor, and developing sustainable household economy. In the district, there are nearly 30 collective economic units; nearly 60 comprehensive farms, raising livestock, poultry, and aquatic products.

The family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh, Zone 4, Ha Giap Commune is a pioneer in raising black chickens for eggs in the locality. With technical support from the district through training courses, the farming process follows biosafety, while implementing veterinary care methods and strict management to ensure product quality, from an initial farming household, a livestock cooperative has been formed with a scale of more than 5,000 laying hens, helping to increase egg production and expand the product consumption market. In 2023, Ha Giap black chicken eggs were recognized as meeting 3-star OCOP standards. On average, each day, it supplies the market in the province and restaurant chains in Hanoi from 1,000 to 1,300 eggs, contributing to increasing income for households.

Up to now, the infrastructure serving production has been invested in and built to promote the potential and strengths in agricultural development. The district has focused on directing the implementation of key agricultural production programs to develop key products associated with local advantages. In particular, the area of ​​fruit trees and aquaculture has been expanded; planning a high-tech agricultural production area with an area of ​​over 60 hectares in An Dao and Binh Phu communes; an area for growing Gia Thanh specialty fruit trees; an area for growing safe vegetables and ornamental plants in the southern communes of the district, advantageous communes and the central area of ​​the district with an area of ​​over 55 hectares; implementing well the "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) Program, developing craft villages... The district has 18 products and 1 group of products meeting OCOP standards, affirming its brand and competitiveness in the market.

Recently, due to the impact of storm No. 3 and the storm's circulation, heavy rains and rising floodwaters have flooded 7 communes along the Lo River, including: Phu My, Le My, Tri Quan, Ha Giap, Tien Du, An Dao, Binh Phu, affecting houses and other ancillary works of more than 1,100 households; causing flooding of over 324.4 hectares of rice, corn, crops, industrial trees; flooding over 20 hectares of fish ponds, breaking 2 400kg fish cages of households along the Lo River. The district's functional units have coordinated well to urgently handle the locations of landslides, riverbank collapses, landslides, dike works, embankments, culverts... The district People's Committee has directed specialized departments, branches and sectors to guide people to restore production after the storm, minimize losses in productivity and crop output, and focus on directing winter crop production.

Mr. Nguyen Phuc Suyen - Head of the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: Thanks to the efforts in directing the development of agricultural economy, drastic and timely solutions have been implemented, people have been supported with funds, seeds, agricultural materials, and techniques to quickly overcome and stabilize agricultural production after floods. At the same time, continue to exploit the strengths of development and the value of typical local agricultural products, identifying digital transformation as the important "key", helping farmers produce quality agricultural products, promote and consume products at the lowest cost and sell at the highest price, towards developing smart agriculture, integration, adaptation to climate change, increasing added value, and sustainable development.
