“The resonance of Valentine's Day coinciding with the last Tet holiday has made February 14, 2024 create many impressive milestones in the Vietnamese film market.
With a total revenue of 64.4 billion VND and 646,000 tickets sold, this year's Valentine's Day had the highest total revenue and number of tickets sold since we started counting box office sales" - Box Office Vietnam summarized on the morning of February 15.
Of the total revenue on February 14, the film Mai accounted for 68%, reaching 43.9 billion VND.
The number of tickets sold for the movie Mai on Valentine's Day alone was 448,245 tickets out of 4,330 screenings.
Currently, the total revenue of Tran Thanh's film has reached 187.7 billion VND, expected to exceed 200 billion VND today (February 15), after only six days of showing.
Also because of Mai , some box office exceptions took place on Valentine's night.
For example, Cinestar Da Lat theater first announced a showtime at 0:30, for Mai with a ticket price of 45,000 VND.
Although the revenue increased slower than Mai , the movie Meet the Pregnant Sister still had quite good results. On Valentine's Day, the movie earned 7.4 billion VND, ranking second at the box office.
Total revenue from Seeing the Pregnant Woman Again has reached 41.4 billion VND so far.
The film still has a chance to break even because in the near future many people from the localities will return to big cities and continue to go to the cinema to watch movies.
