Attending the workshop were Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong; Mr. Shovgi Mehdizade, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Vietnam; leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the provinces in the region. On the side of Ha Giang province, there was Mr. Tran Duc Quy, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Vice Chairman of the Ha Giang Provincial People's Committee Tran Duc Quy said that in 2010, when Dong Van Stone Plateau was recognized by UNESCO and honored as a member of the UNESCO Global Geopark Network, this was the foundation for the formation of Ha Giang's tourism brand. Exploiting heritage values ​​is associated with preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups.

The planning of Ha Giang province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, has been approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1339/QD-TTg. In addition, the province has implemented many solutions to invest in infrastructure, strengthen management, conservation and promote promotion programs. Up to now, the tourism image of Ha Giang province has affirmed its own unique brand.

Overview of the workshop.

The province aims to recognize Dong Van Stone Plateau as a national tourist area by 2030, attracting 5 million tourists; total revenue from tourists is estimated at 20,600 billion VND, contributing 14.34% of tourism value to the total product in the area; creating jobs for more than 20,000 direct workers. Building a brand is difficult, maintaining the brand is even more difficult.

Therefore, organizing a workshop with the theme “Positioning and building Ha Giang tourism brand in the new period” is an important and urgent task. This is an opportunity for the province to receive opinions, suggestions, and experience sharing from delegates, in order to support the locality in researching, proposing fundamental solutions, overcoming bottlenecks, creating a solid foundation, maximizing the strengths of tourism resources for Ha Giang tourism to develop greenly and sustainably.

Creating sustainable development for Ha Giang tourism

At the workshop, experts discussed and shared about the development trends of domestic and international tourism as well as the need to position and build tourism brands for localities in general and Ha Giang province in particular. They presented the theoretical and practical basis for positioning and building tourism destination brands, and the challenges in positioning and building Ha Giang tourism brands today.

Experts affirm that the orientation of tourism development towards green transformation for sustainable tourism development is the right direction. In addition, the province needs to build solutions to develop professional tourism human resources in a synchronous manner to meet the requirements of tourism brand development; improve the quality of core tourism products; pay attention to infrastructure, ensure the environment, promote specific cultural values ​​for brand building.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong affirmed that Ha Giang province has strengthened connections with domestic and international localities to promote tourism development associated with preserving and promoting heritage and cultural identity of ethnic groups. Ha Giang has turned difficulties into development opportunities.

With the motto "Close connection - smooth coordination - extensive cooperation - comprehensive coverage - sustainable efficiency", the Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism suggested that Ha Giang province should proactively develop a practical plan to promote tourism development.

The province needs to guide and support tourism businesses in transforming their activities to suit the trend in the new situation. For organizations and individuals providing tourism services and the tourism business community, it is necessary to promote dynamism, creativity, and a driving, proactive, and consultative role in tourism recovery.
