Online conference on promoting economic diplomacy

On the afternoon of July 18, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a conference with Vietnamese representative agencies abroad on promoting economic diplomacy and boosting economic growth in the last 6 months of 2024 and the following years.

The conference was held online from the Government Headquarters to the provinces and cities nationwide and at the representative agencies of Vietnam abroad. Attending the conference at the Ninh Thuan bridge were Mr. Tran Quoc Nam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders of a number of departments and branches.

Implementing Resolution 21/NQ-CP dated February 20, 2023 of the Government promulgating the Action Program for the period 2022-2026 implementing Directive 15-CT/TW dated August 10, 2022 of the Secretariat on economic diplomacy to serve national development to 2030, in the first 6 months of 2024, economic diplomacy has been implemented methodically and effectively, making substantial contributions to socio-economic development. Economic diplomacy has contributed to maintaining a favorable foreign situation for national development and promoting the attraction of resources to serve growth drivers; consolidating growth drivers through reviewing the implementation of recently signed trade liberalization agreements, upgrading existing agreements and proactively negotiating new agreements; Support localities and businesses, resolutely remove obstacles in projects with the motto of taking people, localities and businesses as the center of service; create combined strength in economic diplomacy through institutionalizing management and coordination mechanisms.

The conference focused on exchanging and assessing the situation, identifying opportunities and challenges, and proposing measures to promote domestic and foreign economic diplomacy to contribute to common efforts to stabilize the macro-economy, ensure major economic balances, and promote rapid recovery and sustainable development.

Concluding the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested Vietnamese representative agencies abroad, ministries, branches and localities to continue to adhere to the goals, prioritize promoting growth associated with macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, ensuring major balances of the economy; promote innovation, strive to achieve the socio-economic development goals in 2024. At the same time, synchronously, effectively and substantially deploy high-level foreign affairs activities, integrate economic and technological contents into the agenda, taking this as a launching pad for economic diplomacy; focus on visits to key partners, multilateral forums with economic focus such as APEC, G20...; promote technology diplomacy, mobilize international resources for the digital transformation, green transformation, energy transformation. Increase the provision of information to localities and businesses on governance rules, standards, and new economic trends; Increase resources for economic diplomacy activities, improve the effectiveness of trade promotion, investment and tourism promotion activities.
