According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), in the context of globalization and the 4th industrial revolution taking place strongly, in recent years, the agricultural sector has proactively and strongly implemented digital transformation, especially the application of digital technology such as IoT, GIS, automated robots, and energy-saving irrigation in production, processing, and consumption of agricultural products, helping to increase labor productivity, improve the efficiency of crop and livestock products, and increase competitiveness in the market. However, in addition to the achieved results, the digitalization process in the agricultural sector from the central to local levels still has certain difficulties; the ability to apply new science and technology in agriculture is still low and lacking in synchronization... At the conference, leaders of central and local ministries, branches, enterprises, and industry associations focused on assessing the current situation and bottlenecks in the digitalization situation; At the same time, recommend and propose the Government to issue a number of policies to encourage enterprises, cooperatives, and farmers to participate in promoting the agricultural sector in the coming time.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang emphasized: Agricultural and rural development is considered a key issue, contributing to the success of socio-economic development; in particular, promoting the application of digital technology will be a factor and a radical solution to overcome the limitations that our country's agriculture is facing. The Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to actively coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to review, advise, and propose to perfect the legal framework on the management mechanism and use of state budget funds to implement digital transformation activities in agriculture; synchronously build databases on the fields of cultivation, livestock, aquaculture, forestry and data on land, soil, and geographical indications. For localities, strengthen propaganda, dissemination and support for people and the business community to access digital technology in production; deploy specific digital transformation plans for the agricultural sector, suitable to actual conditions; Priority is given to developing infrastructure for high-tech agricultural production areas.
