The conference aims to evaluate the implementation results of the National Program on Energy Efficiency and Conservation to 2024, orient and promote activities under the Program in 2025 and the following years.
Attending the conference were representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (Department of Energy Saving and Sustainable Development); representatives of relevant ministries and branches; Department of Industry and Trade, Industrial Promotion Center, Energy Saving Center, organizations and individuals operating in the field of energy saving and efficiency nationwide.
According to information at the Conference, since 2015, Vietnam has shifted from an energy exporter to an energy importer and is increasingly dependent on imported fossil fuels. Therefore, the use of electricity and energy saving and efficiency plays an increasingly important role in ensuring electricity supply, conserving national energy resources, protecting the environment and mitigating the impact of global climate change.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang, Director of the Department of Energy Saving and Sustainable Development, 60/63 provinces and cities have issued plans to implement the local Program for the period 2020 - 2025 and the period up to 2030.
63 provinces and centrally run cities have developed and issued a Plan to implement Directive No. 20 dated June 8, 2023 of the Prime Minister on electricity saving for the period 2023-2025 and the following years.
The electricity saving program has achieved a national electricity saving rate of > 2% annually in the period 2020-2023.
Delegates attending the Conference discussed and shared results and experiences in implementing the National Program on energy saving and efficiency; implementation experience, difficulties and advantages when applying sustainable production and consumption.
Within the framework of the conference, the launching ceremony of the “Innovation Startup Acceleration Program in the field of energy efficiency” took place. This is the first startup acceleration program held in Vietnam specifically for the field of energy efficiency, aiming to attract investment in innovative solutions for energy saving and efficiency in the fields of industry, transportation and construction.
