Attending the ceremony were Ms. Dao Khanh Ha - Head of the City Party Committee's Propaganda Department, Mr. Le Khac Nguyen Anh - Secretary of Hai Phong City Youth Union and many young people and teenagers of the city.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai - Director of Hai Phong Department of Culture and Sports said that the inauguration of the monument on the occasion of the 82nd anniversary of the sacrifice of Heroic Martyr Kim Dong is a meaningful event, showing the respect and honor of the people and young generation of the port city.
According to Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai, the monument construction project organized a competition and selected monument models and sculptures to be put into the model bank of sculptures located in flower gardens and parks in the city.
The Kim Dong Monument was designed and constructed based on the sketch code TP020 by sculptor Trinh The Hoi, who won first prize in the competition.
The monument is made of white stone, depicting the image of Hero Kim Dong, located in Kim Dong flower garden, in the central flower garden strip of the city (Hong Bang district). The monument is 4.35m high, in a construction area of over 160m2.

The Kim Dong Hero Monument is considered a valuable work of art rich in historical education, fostering awareness of patriotism among the city's youth.
Placing the monument in Kim Dong flower garden area will beautify the landscape of the city center, creating a highlight in urban architecture and tourism of Hai Phong.
More than 150 years ago (1874), this place gradually became a major port in the North and one of the largest, busiest cities.
The central flower garden strip of the city stretches from Tam Ky flower garden to Hoang Dieu street, more than 3km long, where 3 districts (Hong Bang, Ngo Quyen, Le Chan) meet, bearing the cultural and architectural imprints planned and built by the French and is considered by experts to be the most beautiful central strip in the country.
Since 1955, Kim Dong flower garden has been formed and invested in by the city to build and renovate many items. This place has become a cultural space for the people, associated with the childhood memories of many generations of Hai Phong people. The flower garden also plays the role of a "green lung" regulating the city's climate, with historical, cultural and urban environmental values.
