The consulting booths of some military schools at the Admissions and Career Counseling Day organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper on the morning of March 3 attracted the attention of students and parents.

This year's festival has the participation of two military universities: the Military Technical Academy and the Army Officer School 2.

At the consulting booth of the Military Technical Academy, a parent asked if her son would be exempted from military service if he studied at the school. Her son is currently in his third year at a university in Ho Chi Minh City, and plans to enroll in a master's degree at a military school after graduation.

Sharing parents' concerns, Mr. Vuong Van Han - training manager of the Military Technical Academy (South) - said that when studying for a master's degree at the academy, students study in the civilian system, so whether or not to postpone military service depends on the locality.

Meanwhile, if students study at the Military Technical Academy from the beginning, they will be exempted from military service.

Mr. Han said that when students are admitted and enrolled in university at a military school, they become military officers and are exempted from military service. In addition, students also enjoy policies on leave days, monthly allowances... according to regulations.

Pay attention to military school recruitment time

According to Mr. Han, the issue that candidates need to pay the most attention to if they want to apply to military schools is the preliminary selection period. Candidates should contact the district military agency to know the time and follow the schedule. The preliminary selection period is quite short, so if they do not complete the preliminary selection in time, they will not be able to apply.

"Most students do not fully understand the admission regulations as well as the necessary procedures to register for admission to military schools. Most of them ask about this issue. Some ask about their background. The Southern Military Technical Academy only recruits master's students, not university students," Mr. Han added.
