As a result, in listening skills, more than 75% of grade 9 students achieved Pre A1 or A1 level. More than 20% of students achieved A2 to B1 level and nearly 5% achieved B2 level.

In reading skills, more than 75% of students achieved Pre A1 and A1 levels. Less than 25% of students had reading skills at A2, B1 levels and no students achieved B2 level.

The survey results of grade 9 students have clear differences between regions, districts and counties.

Specifically, students in District 1 had the highest reading scores with nearly 50% of students achieving A1 level, more than 35% of students achieving A2 level and nearly 15% of students achieving B1 level. At the same time, students in this district also led in listening skills.

Meanwhile, grade 11 students test their English proficiency with the FCE exam (equivalent to level B2).

The results showed that grade 11 students had more limited reading skills than listening skills. Accordingly, nearly 80% of grade 11 students achieved A1, A2 reading levels, less than 5% of students achieved B2 reading level and no students achieved C1 level.

Regarding listening skills, the results show that more than 70% of grade 11 students achieved A1 and A2 levels; Nearly 20% of students achieved B2 to C1 standards.

According to the CEFR scale, more than 70% of 11th grade students in Ho Chi Minh City only achieve listening level A1 or A2, equivalent to an IELTS score of 4.0 or lower.

According to education experts, the results of the English proficiency survey show that the basic English listening skills of 11th grade students in Ho Chi Minh City for use in daily life are still limited.

In which, English proficiency for normal communication must reach B1 and confidence must be B2.
