Some universities that train in Aeronautical Engineering include: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, University of Science and Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University), Air Defense - Air Force Academy...
This year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology continues to enroll students in the Aeronautical Engineering major (240 credits/4 years of study). Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Quang Minh - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Aeronautics, Hanoi University of Science and Technology said that Aeronautical Engineering is a specialized training program and a narrow major, which must follow high standards. Therefore, this major has not attracted many students. Currently, students tend to choose to study broader majors to have more options when graduating.
Another barrier is that the tuition fee for Aeronautical Engineering is twice as high as other majors, about 100 - 140 million VND/year, depending on whether the student is Vietnamese or international. In addition, training in Aeronautical Engineering requires modern and expensive machinery, so few universities invest in opening the major, and candidates have fewer opportunities to choose than other majors.

The Aviation Academy trains two main majors related to aviation: Aviation Engineering (5-year training period, 140 positions), Flight Operations Management (4-year training period, 140 positions). In addition, the school also trains in the following majors: Business Administration, Transport Economics, and Construction Engineering Technology, all of which have training content related to aviation activities.
This school applies a tuition fee of 25 million VND/first year, increasing by 10% in the following years.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) enrolls students in the Aeronautical Engineering major with 60 general education quotas and 40 high-quality training quotas taught in English. In particular, the school's tuition fee for the standard program - general education is about 30 million VND/school year.
The high-quality international transfer program in Aeronautical Engineering (Australia, New Zealand) is taught entirely in English. The tuition fee for the first 2 - 2.5 years of study at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology is about 80 million VND/year and the last 2 - 2.5 years of transfer to a partner university in Australia/New Zealand is about 566 - 807 million VND/year.
The Air Defense - Air Force Academy belongs to the military sector, so students will not have to pay tuition. The school only recruits and trains in one major - Air Defense - Air Force Command and Electronic Warfare with 235 quotas.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology is training two aviation-related majors: Aviation Engineering (50 enrollment quotas) and Aviation Mechanics (35 quotas according to the Pfiev program). This year the school has not announced specific tuition fees. Last year, tuition fees for standard programs ranged from 24 to 30 million VND/school year (depending on each major, including Aviation Engineering), the school committed to an increase of 8-10% each year.
On May 25, Mr. Ta Minh Trong, Head of the Flight Safety Standards Department, Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, assessed that the aviation engineering industry is very "thirsty". Therefore, the salaries that units pay to aviation engineers are high.
According to Mr. Trong, depending on qualifications, the income of aviation technical staff can be divided into 3 levels. Level A is for staff with elementary qualifications, doing simple jobs such as: changing oil, inflating aircraft tires, with a salary of 15 - 20 million VND/month. Level B is for aircraft repair engineers, with a salary of about 35 - 40 million VND/month. Level C is for staff performing periodic maintenance on aircraft. Staff at this level need to have a very high level of thinking, so their income is about 50 million VND/month, even some positions have a salary of 100 million VND/month. This position requires staff with very high professional qualifications, good foreign language skills and the ability to integrate into the international environment.
He added that Aviation Engineering is a specialized field with high training costs. New graduates can only do simple tasks such as changing oil and inflating tires. To receive a high salary, they must have a B1 or B2 certificate in aircraft maintenance and repair - an additional training period of about 4 - 5 years. Thus, the total training time for a high-level engineer in the aviation industry requires at least 10 years, quite a long time compared to many other fields of study.
“ In addition, they have to work in a stressful, highly disciplined environment and require good health. Because when working on flat roads, the temperature can reach over 60 degrees Celsius, if you are not healthy, it will be difficult to survive,” said Mr. Trong.
