On September 16, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Loc Ha district (Ha Tinh) presented 12 calves for livelihood to poor and near-poor households in the area with a total value of 120 million VND.
Accordingly, in this period, the whole district has 12 poor and near-poor households supported with calves for livelihood, each worth 10 million VND. The source of funds to buy calves is taken from the district's "For the Poor" Fund. The breeding calves are carefully selected, have clear origins, are healthy, and show no signs of disease...
According to the support commitment, during the raising process, beneficiary families are not allowed to sell or slaughter the breeding animals, ensuring disease safety and promoting efficiency. After 3 years, these households are responsible for paying back to the District “For the Poor” Fund 2.5 million VND/household (equivalent to 25% of the model value) to raise funds and continue to support other households in difficult circumstances.
On this occasion, Thach Ha district (Ha Tinh) also organized a chicken farming model to support livelihoods and contribute to sustainable poverty reduction for people in 6 communes and towns in the area. This model is part of the community production development project under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction.
Since the beginning of 2024, the People's Committee of Thach Ha district has coordinated with Thach Ha town and the communes of Thach Tri, Thach Son, Dinh Ban, Thach Ngoc, and Thach Hai to provide support of more than 12,430 breeding chickens to 144 poor and near-poor households in the area. Each commune and town has 20-30 households receiving support; each household receives 90-100 chickens.
In addition, the unit also provided support for chicken feed for the first 2 months to households; supported training in breeding techniques and disease prevention during chicken raising. The total cost of chickens this time was 1.295 billion VND.
It is expected that from now until the end of the year, the activity of handing over chickens to poor and near-poor households will be carried out in 13 communes across Thach Ha district.
