Like coach Hoang Anh Tuan of Vietnam U23, coach Emilio Peixe of Kuwait U23 is very happy to be present at the 2024 AFC U23 Championship finals in Qatar, where the 16 strongest teams of the continent gather.
"We are very happy to have the opportunity to compete with the teams in this group. The teams in Group D all have a lot of experience in the tournament. We respect all opponents.
U23 Kuwait wants to go deep in the tournament, so we will try our best in each match, and must concentrate to get a good result in the opening match against U23 Vietnam," said coach Emilio Peixe.
Before the tournament, U23 Kuwait was again worried with a record of not winning in the last 7 matches, with 3 draws and 4 losses. In which, the heaviest defeat that the West Asian team had to suffer was a 0-9 defeat against U23 Korea at the 19th Asian Games in 2023. However, coach Emilio Peixe is still very confident.
"We have been preparing for this tournament for over a year, including a very commendable draw with U23 Iraq. This is a tournament to prepare for the future. But in football every team wants to win.
We try to compete, do our best. The whole team is very excited to compete with the other 3 teams in this group," said coach Emilio Peixe.
Evaluating U23 Vietnam, Coach Emilio Peixe said: "Tomorrow's match with strong opponent U23 Vietnam is very difficult. We have analyzed U23 Vietnam. They have just changed coaches, but U23 Vietnam's goal remains the same.
We will fight, show ourselves and prove what Kuwaiti football can do in the tournament."
Meanwhile, U23 Uzbekistan coach Timur Kapadze affirmed his determination to compete for the championship: "The players currently do not have any injuries and are ready for the tournament.
We work and train together, preparing for a long time to aim to once again win the highest position."
U23 Malaysia coach Juan Garrido expressed caution again: "In the first match, we met a team that is considered very strong in the tournament. U23 Malaysia needs to be in the best condition to enter this match."
