The RF28mm f/2.8 STM is the first "pancake" prime lens in the company's RF lens line, creating a flat combination with both full-frame and EOS R APS-C cameras, providing a large maximum aperture and good image quality.
The lens is less than 2.5cm long when folded and weighs about 120g, the product's appearance is slim in the true sense of the word "pancake".
The image quality of the RF28mm f/2.8 STM is superior to other high-end lenses such as the EF40mm f/2.8 STM and RF50mm f/1.8 STM thanks to its design with a structure consisting of three large-diameter plastic-framed aspherical lenses.
Versatile 28mm focal length and large f/2.8 aperture accommodate a wide range of subjects with both APS-C and full frame cameras.
On the EOS R8 and EOS R6 Mark II, the wide-angle lens can capture landscapes and cityscapes, or portraits with soft backgrounds without making the subject appear small in the frame.
For APS-C cameras like the EOS R50 and EOS R7, the lens provides a standard angle of view equivalent to 45mm on a full-frame camera, and can also shoot half-length portraits from a distance.
The specific price of this lens has not yet been revealed by Canon.
