Việt NamViệt Nam08/10/2023

Accompanying the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) for over 20 years, the Women's Union has always effectively carried out the task of mobilizing and supporting members to borrow capital for economic development and especially implementing the criteria in national target programs, contributing to helping members, the poor and other policy beneficiaries overcome difficulties, strive to stabilize their lives...

In Tan Quang village, Song Phan commune, Ham Tan district (a mixed ethnic minority village), Ms. K' Thi Thao, a K'ho ethnic group, used to have a poor family. Thanks to the Social Policy Bank's loan of 50 million VND under the socio-economic development program for ethnic minority areas, she invested in growing cashew and cassava, earning an annual revenue of more than 100 million VND. After 3 years of saving, her family has escaped poverty and built a spacious house.

Ms. Thao said: In Tan Quang village, many women have borrowed capital from the Social Policy Bank to develop their family economy, thanks to which in the past few years, the number of poor households has decreased significantly... The village has nearly 400 households borrowing capital from the Social Policy Bank with an amount of more than 12 billion VND to invest in raising cows, growing cashews, cassava and corn. Thanks to the capital invested for the right purpose, many households have stable incomes. Up to now, the village has had about 100 households escape poverty... Not only Ms. Thao's case, but in the province, many women have access to credit from the policy bank with low interest rates, so their economic development is stable, reducing the situation of having to borrow black credit...

With the efforts of the Women's Union at all levels and the support of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, the entrusted loan balance managed by the Women's Union in the area has always grown, reaching an average annual growth rate of over 10%/year, with increasingly improved credit quality. The balance of deposits of group members through the S&L groups reached nearly VND 112.5 billion, the average deposit balance reached VND 2.6 million/group member, the average monthly savings rate of group members reached nearly 81%. The quality of savings and credit groups achieved good results, accounting for 94.96% of the total number of groups. With the results achieved in the past time, the Women's Union continues to affirm its position and role in entrusting activities with the VBSP. The Union at all levels has made continuous efforts to implement Directive No. 40/CT-TW of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership over social policy credit.

Ms. Vo Thi Minh Thao - Director of the Provincial Bank for Social Policies, said: The Executive Committee and Chairmen of the Women's Unions of districts, towns and cities have paid great attention to implementing solutions to improve the quality of policy credit activities. Specifically, they have promoted the role of gathering forces, promoting propaganda and dissemination of the Party and State's policies and guidelines on social policy credit to all classes of people, especially the poor and other policy beneficiaries. At the same time, they have eliminated the mindset of waiting and relying on the State's support policies, clarified the awareness and responsibility of borrowers in using capital for the right purposes and fully repaying principal and interest. At the same time, they have created a sustainable foundation for trust activities, and guided borrowers to use capital effectively through activities to support capacity building in production, business, vocational training, job creation, and product consumption connections. Support, advise on the establishment and mobilization of participation in livelihood models, economic development models... Loans from the Social Policy Bank are good credit for women as a "leverage" to develop household economy...
