On April 4, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang coordinated with the People's Committee of Chau Phu district to organize a rice harvest festival in the Project on Sustainable Development of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta region by 2030.
The festival was held at the field of farmer Ly Quang Nghi (Binh My commune, Chau Phu district) with an area of 3 hectares. Farmers followed the rice cultivation process of the Project including: Reducing sowing seeds, reducing fertilizer, reducing water... At the same time, applying cluster seeders combined with burying fertilizer, using a set of plant protection products of Bayer Vietnam Co., Ltd. and fertilizer of Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company, rice varieties of Vinarice Company. As a result, the yield of the model field reached 8.25 tons/ha.

Mr. Tran Minh Nhut, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang, said that the festival aims to change the awareness of rice growers, reorganize production, and closely connect with businesses to develop a sustainable rice chain. This will create opportunities to promote the development of production areas according to the Project, improve capacity, and promote the responsibility of departments, branches, localities, cooperatives, and rice production cooperatives.
“Rice production under the Project helps farmers change their production methods from traditional farming to agricultural economics, helping farmers cultivate in association with environmental protection, reducing investment costs, and increasing income for rice growers. Specifically, in the model participating in the Project, farmers achieved profits nearly 10 million VND/ha higher than the control model,” said Mr. Nhut.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang, in 2025, the area registered by An Giang to participate in the 1 million hectares of high-quality rice project is 44,051 hectares, meeting the requirements for building a large raw material area.
Mr. Ho Van Mung, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee affirmed: Organizing the rice harvest festival has special significance in promoting and encouraging farmers, cooperatives and enterprises to actively participate in the Project. The 1 million hectares of high-quality rice project in An Giang has achieved positive results with an area of about 1,200 hectares.

Mr. Mung requested departments, branches and localities to focus on propaganda and mobilize more and more farmers to participate in the Project. Departments, branches and localities have specific plans associated with inspection and evaluation of the effectiveness of the Project implementation.
