As part of a series of activities celebrating the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hanoi, the third season honored the historical and cultural values of Hanoi while contributing to connecting the community and spreading the spirit of sportsmanship, humanity and solidarity.
To create a truly engaging and inspiring playground for the community, the Organizing Committee of the Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon k affirms professionalism in organization and operation over the years . In the 3rd season, The race attracted more than 10,000 athletes participating in 4 distances: Marathon (42.195 km), Half Marathon (21.097 km), 10 km and 5 km. In particular, the 2024 season affirmed its position as a professional Marathon when attracting more than 4,000 athletes to participate in the Marathon and Half Marathon distances, accounting for nearly 50% of the total number of athletes participating in the race. Of which, more than 200 international athletes from 42 countries and territories participated. At the same time, within the framework of season 3, during the opening period from September 20 to September 22 , the 2024 Marathon Village welcomed more than 20,000 athletes and visitors to nearly 20 exhibition booths.
This year’s season has seen many records and personal achievements broken. In the first moments of the finish line of the 3rd Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon, Nguyen Thi Oanh made the whole community burst into pride with her official result of 02:44:20, winning the first place for women in the marathon distance (42.195 km). With a stable performance, Le Thi Tuyet (Vietnam) finished second with a time of 2:49:54. Pham Thi Hong Le (Vietnam) won third place, completing the race with a time of 3:00:17.
For men's marathon distance : Edwin Kiptoo (Kenya) confirmed his class when he crossed the finish line first with a time of 2:30:31. Close behind, Rono Japhet (Kenya) finished second in a tight chase with a time of 2:30:39. Chirchir Stephen Kipkosgei (Kenya) excelled in third place with a time of 2:32:27, contributing to a thrilling and suspenseful race. In the final result, the Organizing Committee awarded 94 individual awards to outstanding athletes . Immediately after receiving the award, Nguyen Thi Oanh (Vietnam) - the female marathon champion burst into emotion: " I am very proud and moved to break the national marathon record at the Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon Season 3. This is the result of a process of continuous training efforts. This year's Hanoi International Marathon has created a breakthrough momentum for all athletes to reach further to new distances, new milestones, new achievements.
