Diversify goods and ways to serve the market

Up to now, distribution units such as Thanh Nghe Tinh Food Joint Stock Company, Nghe An Agricultural Products and Foodstuffs Company Limited, Nam Long Trading Company Limited, supermarket systems: Go! Vinh, MM Mega Market, Winmart,...; convenience stores such as Winmart+, Bibigreen,.. and shopping centers, goods distributors, markets in the province have proactively developed plans to prepare goods to serve the peak market of Tet.

The units committed to always have abundant supply, the selling price of essential goods will remain stable during Tet, especially for some items with high demand such as: Fresh food (beef, chicken, vegetables, tubers, fruits...), technological products (cakes, candies, beer, wine, soft drinks...). The total amount of goods reserved to serve the Nghe An market during Tet is estimated at over 10,050 billion VND.

Specifically, Nam Long Trading Joint Stock Company prepares cooking oil supplies for Tet with a total value of about 50 billion VND; the value of supplies prepared by Thanh Nghe Tinh Food Joint Stock Company is about 3.2 billion VND; with Go! Vinh Supermarket is more than 86 billion VND; MM Mega Market Center is about 15 billion VND; Muong Thanh Phu Dien Supermarket is nearly 2 billion VND, The City Do Luong Supermarket is more than 10.5 billion VND... In addition, other supermarket systems, markets and convenience store chains are more than 9,882 billion VND.

Some distribution enterprises in the province have also registered to coordinate with retail units to open essential sales points to serve the Lunar New Year, such as: Thanh Nghe Tinh Food Joint Stock Company, Nam Long Trading Company Limited with sales points in Dien Chau, Do Luong districts, Thai Hoa town and mountainous districts...

Mr. Tran Anh Khang - Director of Go! Vinh said: The supermarket's preparation for Tet is almost complete, the plans for the quantity of goods for Tet have been proactively made with major suppliers since September and October to ensure stable prices. This year, in addition to 86 billion VND of goods during the peak of Tet, the supermarket has proactively prepared for the post-Tet period with a total value of 170 billion VND of goods, an increase of 25% compared to last year. The goods are mainly consumer goods, seasonal goods for Tet such as beer, wine, candy, vegetables, tubers, and fruits. More than 90% of the goods on the shelves are Vietnamese goods, a few imported fruits from Europe, Thailand, etc.

“On this occasion, we will also focus more on essential goods and Tet goods, Tet gift baskets with discounts. In order to ensure the quality of food hygiene and safety of Tet goods, we will increase inspection of goods sold in the system. In addition, we will apply many forms of direct sales, online sales, and delivery to consumers…”- Mr. Khang shared.

At MM Mega Market Nghe An Company Limited, the plan to prepare goods for Tet is also ready. In addition to essential goods such as rice, pork, poultry, buffalo, beef, aquatic products, seafood, processed foods, vegetables, tubers, fruits, cooking oil, confectionery... for the 2024 Lunar New Year, the company also reserves additional groups of goods such as: dried goods (bamboo shoots, vermicelli, wood ear mushrooms...); dried fruits and nuts for Tet, other items such as flowers, ornamental plants, clothes, electronics... The total amount of reserved goods is worth about 15 billion VND.

Ms. Hoang Thi Ha - Director of MM Mega Market Company Limited, Nghe An branch shared: “We prepare goods for the Tet market 3-4 months before Tet. The amount of goods signed to serve Tet increased by about 50% compared to normal months of the year but decreased by nearly 30% compared to the same period in 2023 due to the forecast of difficult economic situation and decreased purchasing power. We proactively arrange additional payment counters in case of high customer demand, expand customer parking lots, increase staff to support moving goods for customers if buying in large quantities, extend opening hours during peak shopping times…”.

In addition to major retail channels, at this time, e-commerce platforms also begin to prepare facilities to serve people's shopping needs during the Lunar New Year. Many e-commerce platforms, supermarkets, and distribution systems have online sales via phone, website, and e-commerce applications for consumers to proactively purchase goods.

Proactively source Tet goods

Ms. Tran My Ha - Head of Trade Management Department, Department of Industry and Trade said: Previously, the Department of Industry and Trade proactively planned and actively worked with localities and businesses to prepare goods for the end of the year and the 2024 Lunar New Year. Through research, it was found that the goods for the Tet holiday are abundant and diverse. In particular, essential goods are available for people to shop comfortably. In fact, there is a lot of supply, so big cities are promoting demand stimulation to increase purchasing power.

According to calculations, for the food group; the total average rice consumption demand of the whole province is about 20,000 tons/month, and it is expected that during Tet, the demand may reach 22,000 tons/month. The amount of rice currently available at distribution facilities expected to serve Tet is about 4,000 tons, mainly concentrated at Thanh Nghe Tinh Food Joint Stock Company, Go! Vinh supermarket, MM Mega market, Vinmart system, food stores, general stores, markets... At the same time, in rural areas, people mainly consume self-produced rice, with an estimated reserve of 18,000 tons.

For fresh food products: According to the report, the supply of fresh food products during the Lunar New Year 2024 is stable, there is no shortage of supply, ensuring the supply of consumption needs of local people. The total average demand for fresh food in the province is about 13,000 tons/month, the expected demand for Tet is about 16,000 tons/month. The production output in the province can meet about 20,509 tons.

For green vegetables, tubers and fruits: Demand is about 18,916 tons of vegetables, tubers and fruits of all kinds/month. The main supply is in the province, it is expected that local output can meet about: 21,250 tons/month. Supply and demand of this group of products is forecasted to increase during the end of the year and Lunar New Year 2024, but the increase is within control.

For fresh fruit group: Demand is about 5,111 tons of fresh fruit/month; The main source of supply is in the province, the northern and southern provinces and cities, and some high-end fruits are imported from China, Korea, the US, Australia, Thailand, etc.

For consumer technology products: Total demand for cooking oil is estimated at 2.3 million liters/month; Dried agricultural and forestry products are estimated at 2,814 tons/month... Currently, large suppliers such as: Nam Long Company Limited, Go! Vinh Supermarket, MM Mega market, Muong Thanh Phu Dien Supermarket can immediately supply about 4,054.5 tons of cooking oil; Dried agricultural and forestry products are over 301.5 tons.

For processed food group: Expected consumption demand during Tet is about 3,470 tons/month. In addition to processed seafood products, the remaining processed products are mainly exploited from other provinces and cities.

In addition to essential goods serving people's consumption needs, during the Lunar New Year, consumer demand also focuses on traditional goods such as cakes, jams, candies, soft drinks, etc., with an estimated demand of about 796.8 tons of cakes and candies consumed during the Tet holiday. In addition to domestic cakes and candies, some types of cakes, jams, candies, wine, and high-end beer are imported by businesses, accounting for about 10-15% of the total quantity of goods consumed during the Tet holiday.

In addition, it is expected that the demand for gasoline and oil during the Tet holiday is expected to increase compared to other months. According to reports from key traders and distributors of gasoline and oil in the province, traders have proactively planned to prepare goods for the end of the year and the 2024 Lunar New Year. Specifically, in the first quarter of 2024, key traders and distributors of gasoline and oil plan to reserve about 210,000 m3, of which Nghe An Petroleum Company has about 95,500 m3, Petrolimex Nghe Tinh Transport and Service Joint Stock Company has about 25,000 m3, Do Luong General Trading Joint Stock Company has 4,200 m3, Phuc An Maritime Joint Stock Company has about 3,630 m3, Luu Nga Company Limited has 2,333 m3, and other key traders and distributors have about 79,337 m3.
