Hai Phong pioneers green transformation and sustainable development

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee Le Tien Chau said that the Standing Committee of the Hai Phong City Party Committee has a policy of assigning functional agencies to research and develop a green transformation project for the city to have a deeper and more meaningful awareness, highlight the necessity and find a strong and comprehensive solution for the entire political system and the city's people to participate. Aiming for the goal of not only economic strength but also for people to live in a green, clean and beautiful environment; products of enterprises manufactured in Hai Phong are recognized by the world.

The Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee suggested that delegates discuss specific and practical solutions to effectively implement the green transformation goal, especially in the fields of industry, tourism, transportation, construction, logistics...

As a specific example of the determination to build Cat Ba Island into a green island, the leaders of Hai Phong city said that it requires the cooperation of local authorities, businesses, all islanders and tourists. In particular, it is necessary to solve the problems of green transportation, wastewater treatment, waste collection, and environmental sanitation on the island. From there, identify solutions, methods, and specific sanctions for behaviors that affect the goal of building a green Cat Ba Island.

With the theme "Hai Phong City prepares resources for Green Transformation", the Workshop had many opinions and discussions on some contents of green transformation implementation in the city in some specific areas. In particular, some notable contents include: Hai Phong City Green Growth Action Plan for the period 2021-2030, vision 2025; Pioneering green transformation in industrial parks; Green energy conversion, reducing carbon and methane emissions of Hai Phong Construction industry; Orientation for green transformation in Cat Ba Island; Pegatron with EGS sustainable development standards...

In addition, delegates also shared international and domestic experiences on successful green transformation models, helping Hai Phong have more reference bases in the process of building and implementing the Hai Phong City Green Transformation Project for the period 2025 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.

At the workshop, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung said: Hai Phong has made an early green transition, focusing on the following areas: industry, transportation... Vinfast Company has switched from producing gasoline cars to electric cars; Sun Group Joint Stock Company has invested in Cat Ba cable car; industrial parks have invested in solar power systems and deployed a bus system to pick up and drop off workers; wind power has been built in Bach Long Vi island district... However, the green transition in Hai Phong is not widespread and synchronous. Besides, there is no policy mechanism to encourage and motivate units and enterprises to make a green transition.

To accelerate the progress of green transformation, the Chairman of the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to absorb the discussions at the Workshop to complete the Hai Phong City Green Transformation Project for the period 2025 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, and submit it to the City People's Committee before April 10. Assign Cat Hai district to coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment to advise on the issuance of a new Resolution on green transformation and green tourism development specifically for Cat Ba, and submit it in the third quarter of 2025...
