On April 2, Chu Mom Ray National Park ( Kon Tum province) said that the unit had just received a rare long-tailed macaque with an injured arm from Kon Tum City Forest Protection Department.
According to Chu Mom Ray National Park, before being discussed with the unit, a rare long-tailed monkey was voluntarily handed over by a resident in Kon Tum City after discovering an injury to its hand. The long-tailed monkey weighs about 2kg and belongs to the IIB group of endangered and rare animals. This is a male monkey, unfortunately, its right hand was completely amputated, seriously affecting its ability to survive in the wild.
After receiving the monkey, experts at the Center for Biodiversity Conservation and Ecotourism in Chu Mom Ray National Park conducted a comprehensive health check and developed a plan to care for and restore the monkey's health.
According to Mr. Dao Xuan Thuy - Director of Chu Mom Ray National Park, rescuing and caring for endangered wild animals is not only a responsibility to protect wild animals but also has great significance in preserving biodiversity and protecting rare genetic resources. In addition, Chu Mom Ray National Park will closely monitor the recovery process of this individual, and when its health is completely stable, the monkey will be released back into the natural environment, returning to its original life.
It is known that in recent times, Chu Mom Ray National Park has become a place to receive, care for, and successfully rescue many cases of rare and precious wild animals that have been injured or illegally hunted, contributing significantly to the conservation of nature and biodiversity in the Central Highlands region.
