The only female rookie in the district
As the military gathering day approaches, the small house by the Vac River in Trung Dong village (Yen Nhan commune, Yen Mo district, Ninh Binh) of Mr. Pham Van Doan's family (47 years old) is always filled with laughter, because in a few hours his two children will leave for military service.
Pham Thi Thao and her sister, parents and grandfather were happy before the military reunion day.
Since the end of 2023, Pham Thi Thao and her younger brother Pham Minh Quan (19 years old) have decided to volunteer for military service.
Thao is the only female recruit in Yen Mo district to join the army this time. "I always want to mature more from the military environment to have a solid foundation for my future life. I know that in the military environment, I will learn a lot, be trained in high discipline, self-awareness and team spirit. I am still young, so I consider joining the army as a challenge of youth, as well as a duty of a young man to the Fatherland," Thao confided.
Two sisters Pham Thi Thao - Pham Minh Quan volunteered to join the army to contribute to the Fatherland and have more courage for their future life.
After finishing high school, Thao graduated and got an intermediate cooking certificate in 2018. From 2019 to now, Thao has been working for a 5-star hotel in Hanoi, with an income of about 10 million VND/month.
Although the income is not high, in many cases like Thao, they would probably think about the future with a stable job and then start a family, but the girl born in 1998 decided to volunteer to join the army, fulfilling the sacred duty of youth.
Just wait until I finish school to join the army
Meanwhile, throughout his three years of high school, Pham Minh Quan was always an excellent student, and was fully capable of attending a university. However, the dream of joining the army that had been in his heart for many years prompted this young man to volunteer to join the army as soon as he left school.
Pham Thi Thao is the only female recruit of Yen Mo district in this recruitment round.
"I really like joining the army. Thao and I often talk to each other, sharing joys and sorrows in life. Many times when she was working in Hanoi, I often mentioned joining the army. Sometimes we liked it so much that we recorded videos of ourselves practicing the regulations and sent them to each other to watch. Now my wish has come true. I will try to fulfill my duty to become more mature," Quan shared. According to the share, on February 3, Quan was honored to be admitted to the Party.
Mr. Pham Van Doan (47 years old, father of Thao and Quan) said that due to economic conditions, 5 years ago he went to the South to work as a construction worker, while his wife stayed home to work as a factory worker. When hearing Thao and Quan express their desire to join the army, Mr. Doan and his wife supported their children.
"My family and I were very happy and agreed when both of our children volunteered to join the army. Joining the army was their wish, and when they expressed their wishes, my wife and I immediately agreed," said Mr. Doan.
Thao and Quan are excited to join the army.
When asked if, as a father, he was worried that his daughter would have to endure more hardship than his son in the military environment, Mr. Doan said: "Even though she is a girl, I am not afraid that Thao will have to endure hardship. But life nowadays has to be difficult for her to grow up. Any job nowadays, if you do not have to endure hardship, it will be difficult to succeed."
Mr. Pham Van Thang, Secretary of Yen Nhan Commune Youth Union, said that recently, the Executive Committee of Yen Nhan Commune Youth Union has asked secretaries of branches to pay attention to union members and young people of military age to promote the spirit of youth and initiative.
"The Youth Union not only participates in the military recruitment process, we also closely follow the journey of each member and young person after completing their service in their locality to support them if they need to access work, and disseminate the Party and State's policies and guidelines on supporting demobilized soldiers," said Mr. Thang.
