Grupo Bimbo files lawsuit against Maple Leaf Foods

The lawsuit concerns the sale of Maple Leaf Foods-controlled Canada Bread to Grupo Bimbo in 2014. Grupo Bimbo accuses Maple Leaf Foods of fraud and intentionally concealing information about its business during the sale.

Maple Leaf Foods CEO Michael McCain has denied the allegations, calling them baseless. McCain accused Grupo Bimbo of using the lawsuit to distract from its own mismanagement. Maple Leaf Foods has also sued Grupo Bimbo and Canada Bread for defamation, according to the Financial Post .
