Professor Vo Van Nhon is a dedicated person and has many achievements in researching Southern literature.

Contributing to Southern Literature marks another important milestone in the study of Southern literature in which he participated as editor-in-chief.

Sharing at the program, Professor Vo Van Nhon said that at that time, poet Che Lan Vien in his collection New Dialogue wrote: " Life at the age of forty or fifty/ What do you expect from strange colors and scents ?" He was 70, above the age that poet Che Lan Vien mentioned, so he did not expect anything.

But after retiring, he sat down to read his previous writings and found that there were quite a few articles written with colleagues, graduate students and students related to Southern literature, so he wanted to collect them into a book as a souvenir.

“There are still many things in Southern literature that we have not yet discovered. For example, there are authors whose biographies we do not know, whose works we have not yet read. A typical example is the case of writer Phan Thi Bach Van, a woman who fought vigorously for feminism in the 20th century. Or Tan Dan Tu, a famous historical novelist of the early 20th century Southern region, we only know that he was from Thu Duc, but we do not know the details,” Professor Vo Van Nhon shared.

Poet Le Minh Quoc highly appreciated the new issues in the publication Contributing to Southern Literature , especially the effort of Professor Vo Van Nhon and author Dinh Pham Phuong Thao to search for and analyze Tuong Thuong Kho by Nguyen Ba Tong, published in 1912. This is considered the first modern stage script of the Vietnamese.

According to poet Le Minh Quoc, Southern literature still has many issues that need to be studied and researched.

“Research on Southern literature is very important. I hope that students and researchers will continue this journey. We cannot stop here, and I hope that future works will be of greater significance,” poet Le Minh Quoc expressed.

Agreeing, Professor Huynh Nhu Phuong also suggested that publishing agencies or units print in strips with introductions the works of Southern writers such as Le Hoang Muu, Tran Chanh Chieu... so that the next generation has the opportunity to access the Southern literature of the time in the most complete way.
