Countdown to salary increase
According to information from the Ministry of Home Affairs, from July 1, 4/6 salary reform contents according to Resolution No. 27-NQ/TU will be implemented. Two contents have not been implemented due to many problems, including building a new salary table (eliminating the basic salary level and salary coefficient); restructuring and arranging into 9 new allowance regimes.
Accordingly, the Politburo agreed with the plan not to pay salaries according to job positions, instead, the basic salary will increase by more than 30% to VND 2,340,000 from July 1, 2024.
Constantly updating news about salary policies and allowances for teachers, Ms. Kim Thu - a teacher at Sen Hong Kindergarten (HCMC) - expressed her joy at the news of the increase in basic salary.
“When the draft on salary reform was released, my colleagues and I discussed and had high expectations. The current salary of preschool teachers is not enough to cover living expenses, many of my colleagues had to quit their jobs to do other jobs. Therefore, the information about the increase in basic salary made many teachers extremely happy and joyful.
According to the new basic salary, my salary will increase by about 1,700,000 VND/month compared to the old salary, and living expenses will be improved. In particular, the retained allowances also make us feel secure" - Ms. Kim Thu shared.
Hope for price stability
Salary increases and a stable life are the wishes of millions of teachers across the country. However, in the current period of rising prices, many people worry that salary increases cannot keep up with rising prices.
Ms. Kim Thu believes that salary increases should go hand in hand with price stabilization. Only then will the salary increase for teachers truly be meaningful.
“If salaries increase and prices increase accordingly, there will be a situation where salaries “disappear” before they are received. Therefore, I hope that the Party and the State will take measures to control and stabilize prices so that salary increases can truly contribute to improving teachers’ lives,” Ms. Thu expressed her wish.
Sharing his views on this issue, Mr. Tran Van Vinh - teacher at Tho An Primary School (Hanoi) - said that price stabilization is very necessary.
“With the current market situation, it is difficult for us, long-time teachers, to spend our salaries. New graduates with a salary of just over 4 million VND/month will certainly find it difficult to make ends meet, especially living in large cities. Therefore, salary increases should go hand in hand with price stabilization, thereby maximizing the effectiveness of the policy,” said Mr. Vinh.
Mr. Vinh and his colleagues are waiting for the day when the basic salary increase will be implemented. The male teacher hopes that teachers will not have to worry about their salaries but can stabilize their lives and feel secure in teaching.
