Mr. Hien's son becomes Chairman of Vietravel Airlines

On April 1, Vietnam Airlines Joint Stock Company (Vietravel Airlines) held an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders. At the meeting, Mr. Do Vinh Quang was elected to the Board of Directors (BOD) for the 2025-2030 term. After that, the new term of the Board of Directors of Vietravel Airlines met and elected Mr. Do Vinh Quang to hold the position of Chairman. Mr. Do Vinh Quang is the second son of Mr. Do Quang Hien (Bau Hien) - founder of T&T Group, Chairman of SHB Commercial Joint Stock Bank.

Mr. Do Vinh Quang himself is currently Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of T&T Group and Chairman of Hanoi Football Club. Mr. Quang also owns more than 119 million shares of SHB Bank, worth nearly 1,500 billion VND. Along with Mr. Do Vinh Quang, the new Board of Directors of Vietravel Airlines also includes the eldest son of Mr. Hien, Mr. Do Quang Vinh, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of SHB Bank; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Nghi - Deputy General Director of T&T Group and a number of other senior personnel of T&T Airlines, T&T SuperPort.

Mr. Hien's two children are both on the Board of Directors of Vietravel Airlines after in mid-December 2024, T&T Group announced that two member companies and BVIM Fund became strategic shareholders of this airline.

The list of shareholders of Vietravel Airlines by the end of 2024 includes: Vietravel Group, Vietnam Tourism and Transport Marketing Joint Stock Company (Vietravel), T&T Airlines, T&T SuperPort, BVIM Fund and 2 individual shareholders, Mr. Tran Doan The Duy and Mr. Doan Hai Dang. Vietravel Airlines was approved by the Government with a total investment capital of 700 billion VND to implement the project in April 2020 with the main shareholder being Vietravel Company (holding 100% of the charter capital). By November 2024, Vietravel Airlines was approved to increase its charter capital to 1,300 billion VND.

Recently, Mr. Hien updated the progress and investment prospects in the aviation sector of T&T. T&T Group is planning to develop an aviation group model with Quang Tri airport, Vietravel Airlines, an aviation industrial complex and an airport urban area located in Quang Tri. The Quang Tri airport project is under construction and will be inaugurated in June 2026, if on schedule. On February 8, the group worked with aircraft manufacturer Boeing and the company was very interested. Boeing's representative in Vietnam agreed in principle, T&T became Boeing's strategic partner in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
