Gold rings of type 1-5 were only traded at 77.35-78.6 million VND/tael (buy - sell), an increase of 50,000 VND each way in yesterday's session. Particularly, type 0.3-0.5 was only sold at 78.8 million VND/tael, a record price for this item so far.
With consecutive adjustments over many sessions, each tael of plain gold rings increased by more than 1 million VND compared to the beginning of the month.
At Bao Tin Manh Hai, SJC gold bars are listed at 79-81 million VND/tael (buy - sell), while gold rings here are listed at 77.46-78.66 million VND/tael (buy - sell).

According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 5:00 a.m. today, Vietnam time, was at 2,505.31 USD/ounce. Today's gold price decreased by 19.21 USD compared to yesterday's gold price. Converted according to the current exchange rate at Vietcombank, the world gold price is about 74.197 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is still 4.803 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.
Gold prices suddenly fell as investors waited for a series of data to get a better view of the new direction of the US Federal Reserve (Fed). This week, the US economy will receive many important data that can affect precious metals such as the personal consumption expenditure (PCE) price index for July, the US GDP in the second quarter... Some high-ranking Fed officials, such as Christopher Waller and Raphael Bostic, will give speeches that investors are interested in.
According to the World Gold Council (WGC), the People's Bank of China (PBoC) continued to refrain from buying gold in July. This is the third consecutive month that the PBoC has not added any gold. And this is also the period when gold prices are at an all-time high.

According to the WGC, in 2023, China was the world's largest gold buyer when gold prices were low, mostly buying at the time when prices were between $1,650-1,750/ounce, with the highest level reaching $1,990/ounce. The People's Bank of China net bought nearly 225 tons of gold, the most in 46 years.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) increased its gold purchases in June, buying about 9.3 tons, much higher than the average of 5.6 tons/month in the previous five months. In total, India bought more than 37 tons of gold in the first half of 2024, the highest level since 2013, and three times higher than in 2023.
