The USD price at banks continued to weaken since the last session of last week. Today, some banks reduced the USD price by 70-80 VND for buying.
In today's trading session (November 11), the State Bank announced the central exchange rate between the Vietnamese Dong and the USD at 24,263 VND/USD, down 15 VND compared to the listed rate last weekend.
With a margin of 5%, commercial banks are allowed to trade today at a ceiling rate of VND25,476/USD and a floor rate of VND23,050/USD.
The reference USD exchange rate at the State Bank of Vietnam is still maintained around the price range of 23,400-25,450 VND/USD (buy - sell).
At commercial banks, USD prices continue to be adjusted downward by banks in both buying and selling directions.
Specifically, at the beginning of this morning's trading session, Vietcombank set the USD cash buying price at 25,085 VND/USD and the selling price at 25,455 VND/USD, down 36 VND in both buying and selling compared to the beginning of last weekend's trading session (November 8).
Similarly, compared to the morning of November 8, BIDV reduced the USD price by 76 VND for buying and 36 VND for selling, bringing the buying and selling prices to 25,115-25,455 VND/USD.
VietinBank also lowered the USD buying and selling prices to 25,075-25,435 VND/USD, down 70 VND on the buying side and 56 VND cheaper on the selling side.
USD prices in private banks were also adjusted downward.
Compared to last weekend, Techcombank decreased 50 VND in buying price and 36 VND in selling price, listing the USD cash buying price at 25,057 VND/USD, selling price at 25,455 VND/USD.
Sacombank set the USD price at 25,080-25,450 VND/USD (buy - sell), 80 VND cheaper for buying and 41 VND lower for selling.
Eximbank reduced the USD price by 40 VND for buying and 15 VND for selling, bringing the USD cash buying and selling price to 25,080-25,476 VND/USD.
In the last trading session of the week, the USD price was also adjusted down by banks, including a bank that lowered the buying price by nearly 100 VND.
Meanwhile, the USD price in the free market was adjusted upward. This morning, the free USD price was bought and sold at 25,570-25,670 VND/USD, an increase of 50 VND in both directions compared to the previous session.
Currently, the buying price of USD at banks is about 500 VND lower, and the selling price of USD is 200 VND lower than the free market.
In the world market, the USD price stagnated in the first session of the week. The US Dollar Index (a measure of the strength of the greenback compared to other major currencies) at 10:19 a.m. on November 11 (Vietnam time) was at 104.98 points, down 0.01% compared to the previous session.
