Domestic pepper prices updated on the morning of April 11, 2025 |
The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) said that the US's 90-day postponement of reciprocal tariffs is good news for the industry, so pepper prices will certainly increase again after falling by about VND10,000/kg in just one week.
According to VPSA, the signed contracts to the US are being re-promoted. The parties will temporarily finalize the price during the 90-day delay. Vietnamese pepper will be subject to an additional 10% tax, but all sources of supply will have the same tax rate, so it will not affect competition.
Experts say that in the coming time, pepper prices may become more stable if supply improves and tariff issues are resolved. However, if the situation does not improve, pepper prices may continue to fall sharply.

However, some pepper export orders have been temporarily suspended by US partners and they are waiting for more information on tax policies. This situation has directly affected domestic production activities. Exporting enterprises are at risk of temporary liquidity loss, high inventory levels, and stagnant raw material purchases, causing pepper prices to continuously decrease in recent days.
Without timely solutions, Vietnam may lose market share in the US market. This will also affect export turnover in 2025, causing the cultivation area of raw materials to be at risk of shrinking.
