Coffee prices increased slightly

At the end of the trading session, the price of Robusta coffee on the London floor on September 19, 2024 at 5:00 a.m. was 4,733 - 5,334 tons. Specifically, the delivery period for November 2024 was 5,334 USD/ton, an increase of 31 USD/ton; the delivery period for January 2025 was 5,070 USD/ton, an increase of 30 USD/ton; the delivery period for March 2025 was 4,871 USD/ton, an increase of 36 USD/ton and the delivery period for May 2025 was 4,733 USD/ton, an increase of 41 USD/ton.

Arabica coffee prices on the New York floor on the morning of September 19, 2024 were dominated by red, with a decrease of 0 - 0.10 cents/lb. Specifically, the December 2024 delivery period was 264.40 cents/lb, down 0.10%; the March 2025 delivery period was 262.30 cents/lb, down 0.05%); the May 2025 delivery period was 259.85 cents/lb (down 0%) and the July 2025 delivery period was 256.60, down 0%.

The price of Brazilian Arabica coffee on the morning of September 19, 2024 increased and decreased in opposite directions. Specifically, the delivery period for September 2024 was 311.70 USD/ton, down 0.42%; the delivery period for December 2024 was 311.85 USD/ton (up 0.55%); the delivery period for March 2025 was 312.10 USD/ton, down 0.22% and the delivery period for May 2025 was 319.50 USD/ton, up 2.63%.

Currently, the average purchase price in the Central Highlands provinces is VND 123,300/kg, the highest purchase price in Gia Lai, Dak Nong, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Kon Tum provinces is VND 123,400/kg.

Specifically, the coffee purchase price in Gia Lai province (Chu Prong) is 123,400 VND, an increase of 200 VND/kg compared to yesterday, in Pleiku and La Grai the price is 123,300 VND/kg. In Kon Tum province, the price is 123,400 VND/kg, an increase of 200 VND/kg compared to yesterday; In Dak Nong province, coffee is purchased at 123,400 VND/kg, an increase of 200 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

The price of green coffee beans (coffee beans, fresh coffee beans) in Lam Dong province in districts such as Bao Loc, Di Linh, Lam Ha, coffee is purchased at 123,000 VND/kg, an increase of 200 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Coffee prices today (September 19) in Dak Lak province; in Cu M'gar district, coffee is purchased at about 123,400 VND/kg, an increase of 200 VND/kg, and in Ea H'leo district, Buon Ho town, it is purchased at 123,300 VND/kg.

Farmers in Dak Lak have reported a strange phenomenon, with coffee ripening unusually early. Harsh weather and continuous rain and storms could delay the coffee harvest.

The weather forecast is not optimistic, with prolonged rain and storms expected to hinder the coffee harvest. Notably, coffee prices this year have skyrocketed, reaching an unprecedented peak right before the harvest.

Vietnam's current coffee supply is falling sharply, as the main harvest season from November to December approaches.

Pepper prices fell sharply

Pepper price today, September 19, 2024, in key areas decreased sharply by 4,000 - 5,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday and traded around 148,000 - 150,500 VND/kg, the highest purchase price in Dak Lak province was 150,500 VND/kg.

Accordingly, Dak Lak pepper price was purchased at 150,500 VND/kg, down 4,500 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Chu Se pepper price (Gia Lai) was purchased at 148,000 VND/kg, down 5,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

In the Southeast region, pepper prices today decreased sharply by 4,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Specifically, in Binh Phuoc, pepper prices today are at 148,000 VND/kg, down 4,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. In Ba Ria - Vung Tau, it is at 148,000 VND/kg, down 4,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Thus, domestic pepper prices today unexpectedly dropped sharply by 4,000 - 5,000 VND/kg in key localities. The highest pepper price is at 150,500 VND/kg.

Update on world pepper prices from the International Pepper Association (IPC), at the end of the most recent trading session, IPC listed the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper at 7,589 USD/ton, down 0.04%, and the price of Muntok white pepper at 9,154 USD/ton, down 0.04%.

The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper is at 7,000 USD/ton. The price of Malaysian ASTA black pepper is at 8,800 USD/ton; the price of this country's ASTA white pepper is at 10,900 USD/ton.

Vietnam black pepper price is traded at 6,800 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 550 g/l at 7,100 USD/ton; white pepper price at 10,150 USD/ton.

According to a report from the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), in the first 15 days of September 2024, Vietnam exported 6,917 tons of pepper, of which 6,907 tons were black pepper and 839 tons were white pepper. Pepper exports fell sharply to a record low of 144% in volume compared to the first 15 days of August 2024.

Vietnam's domestic pepper prices have been adjusted down due to slowing demand from markets such as the US, EU and Asia. Meanwhile, China continues to buy, but in small quantities.
