Pineapple prices remain high

According to pineapple farmers in Binh An commune (Chau Thanh), the price of pineapple has remained stable for many months at 9,000-11,000 VND/best fruit (fruit weighing 1kg or more). With this price, pineapple farmers have a good income.

Ms. Nguy Thi Nghinh, residing in An Lac hamlet, Binh An commune, said: "This year, the pineapples have less diseases and are sweeter than last year. I hope that when the harvest season comes, the price will still be high to make up for last year's reduced pineapple yield due to leaf tip blight disease."

Passersby buy pineapples near Cai Be bridge area.

According to a pineapple purchasing facility in the Cai Be bridge area in Chau Thanh district, the current retail price of pineapple ranges from 15,000-18,000 VND/fruit for second-class pineapple, and the price of first-class pineapple ranges from 22,000-25,000 VND/fruit. This price has been stable for many months.

Ms. Ly Thi Binh - a pineapple purchasing warehouse owner in Binh An commune said that maybe by April 2025, when pineapples enter the peak harvest season, pineapple prices will cool down.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Kien Giang province, the province currently has more than 7,000 hectares of pineapple, concentrated in several districts such as Go Quao, Chau Thanh, Giong Rieng, Vinh Thuan, Kien Luong, and Hon Dat.
