On March 6, at the age of 42, she stepped up to the podium to receive the noble title - People's Artist. In 2016, at the age of 34, Thao was also the youngest Meritorious Artist at that time. Thao said that this time, the People's Artist title "stuck" to her name, not "missed" like the previous time.
Last year, after hearing from the agency (Vietnam National Music, Dance and Dance Theater) that she had received the highest number of votes in the People's Artist title selection, Thao happily called her parents back home. The whole family was overjoyed.

At that time, the singer born in 1982 did not know that there were two announcement rounds and she was in the second round. When she did not see her name on the list of the first round, Thao had to call her family to "correct" the situation.
It was not until the end of last year, when the press contacted her for an interview, that Pham Phuong Thao learned that she had been awarded the title of People's Artist. "I didn't believe it. The journalist sent me the list of artists who had been awarded the title, then I knew, this time it was real," Thao recalled.
Pham Phuong Thao is known for her lyrical songs about her homeland such as "Gan lam Truong Sa", "Ai vo xu Nghe", "Nguoi di xay ho Ke Go", "Giận ma thuong", "Hang roi thuong", "O hai dau noi nho "...
She said the title was never her goal. In 2014, when her teachers and colleagues at the theater urged her to apply for the title of Meritorious Artist, she was not very interested because she thought it "didn't fit the thinking of my generation".
In 2016, everyone urged her again, so she clicked her tongue and applied. When Pham Phuong Thao was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist, the happiest person was not Thao but her parents.
When she witnessed her parents' happiness and pride, she understood "how important a title is to her loved ones". From then on, she changed her perspective.
At the age of 42, having become a People's Artist - a noble title thanks to a lifetime of dedication, what else is there for Pham Phuong Thao to strive for? She smiled and then pondered.
She still has a long half of her life ahead of her. She is still passionate about her career. The title suddenly becomes something quite stressful, Thao confessed.

The title of People's Artist made Pham Phuong Thao "self-criticize" severely. In recent years, she has been a "genuine lazy worm", content with her current life. After 26 years of singing, she only held a live show in 2018 to celebrate 20 years of singing.
This title reminds Pham Phuong Thao "that's enough playing".
She doesn't dare to think about something bigger like a live show but will soon record a series of songs associated with her name to give to the audience.
At least, let the audience know what Pham Phuong Thao's voice is like after her "hibernation period".
These days are more special than usual. Thao receives congratulations from friends and colleagues, her heart is like a thousand flowers blooming.
Her personal life was turbulent, full of ups and downs, and not as she wished, but her singing career was "flourishing and going smoothly". Now receiving another noble title, Pham Phuong Thao is "satisfied in every way".
She remembers her two great teachers, People's Artist Quy Duong and musician An Thuyen, and the Huong Sen Art Troupe (now Nghe An Ethnic Song and Dance Troupe) who helped her touch her destiny in a fitting and beautiful way.
She said: "A Pham Phuong Thao now is the most suitable thing for my destiny."
